Redskins' Tristan Davis plans to retire

The Washington Redskins placed running back Tristan Davis on the exempt-left squad reserve list.

Why?

Davis told the Redskins he intends to retire.

A former Auburn player who tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee last year, Davis has bounced around the NFL for four seasons.

“Came to my office earlier this morning and said that his heart wasn’t in playing football anymore, so he retired,” Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said. “So unless he changes his mind, that’s where he’s at.”

It's a tough game. When a player has injury concerns or loses his desire to play, they're doing the right thing to walk away while they still can.
