Reds manager Baker expected back Sunday

Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker was still in a Chicago hospital Saturday but is likely to return to the dugout Sunday.

Baker has been hospitalized since Wednesday for an irregular heartbeat.

"He's doing well," acting manager Chris Speier said, according to MLB.com. "The report is they just want to keep him one more day and make sure everything is fine before they release him.

"It's probably much-needed -- just another day of rest, just away from (the media) and this whole situation. It can be stressful. I found out the last couple days. They'll probably give him the OK to come home (Sunday)."

Speier downplayed the question that Baker's health is worse than initially thought.

"They just wanted to be thorough," Speier said. "I think that in itself is the best answer -- just to make sure."

Speier said he has not been in contact with Baker since Thursday but the players ask about him every day.

"Hopefully we can get Dusty back and he'll have a chance to celebrate with us," Reds reliever Sean Marshall said. "I know he (can't wait) to. He's been our skipper and he's led us this far."
