Recent NCAA news pushes USC into an all-time top-10 college football list

This stuff happens from time to time: A school’s wins in a given sport get stripped from the official record books due to NCAA violations.

Tennessee is the latest school to receive this penalty.

Nittany Lions Wire is on top of this story:

“For as long as college football has been played, it has been fairly easy to identify the bluest of the blueblood programs,” Kevin McGuire wrote. “One glance at the top 10 schools in all-time wins shows some of the biggest brands in the sport have been at the top of the game throughout the course of college football history. But from time to time, a programs slips up with the NCAA rules and is forced to have some wins vacated from the record books.

“Tennessee is the latest school to fall into that bit of trouble with the NCAA, with ESPN reporting the Vols could be stripped of 11 wins from their all-time record book. The NCAA slapped some sanctions on the program due to violations of the rules during the 2019 and 2020 seasons under former head coach Jeremy Pruitt.”

USC is therefore currently tied with Tennessee at No. 10 on the all-time officially-recognized wins list. Will the Vols be stripped of more wins? Stay tuned.
