Blue Jackets' signing of Johnny Gaudreau sends tremors through the NHL | Michael Arace

After signing Erik Gudbranson to a four-year deal to begin free agency, the Columbus Blue Jackets were not done.

Blue Jackets general manager made a big splash Wednesday evening, bringing in former Calgary Flames winger Johnny Gaudreau to join Gudbranson, his former teammate.

Considered to be the top free agent available this offseason, Gaudreau scored 40 goals along with 75 assists last season, finishing second in the NHL with 115 points in 82 games for the Flames.

Over the course of nine seasons with the Flames, the 28-year-old winger has 210 goals and 399 assists in 602 games played with an overall plus/minus of 85.

And the excitement from the signing was felt throughout the hockey world.
