Ravens OLB Justin Houston discusses potential of Baltimore defense moving forward
The Baltimore Ravens beat the New Orleans Saints 27-13 on “Monday Night Football” in Week 9. That win improves the Baltimore’s record to 6-3 heading into the much-needed bye week. In that time, the Ravens will get even healthier, with key pieces likely to return shortly thereafter on both sides of the ball.
Baltimore’s defense played lights out in New Orleans, especially outside linebacker Justin Houston. He wreaked havoc on Saints quarterback Andy Dalton, totaling two and a half sacks and an interception. Houston spoke to the media after the game and was asked if this defensive performance would give the rest of the defense a boost for the rest of the season. The veteran talked about the future of the defense moving forward, mentioning that the sky is the limit.

“I think this gives us a big boost. I think we know who we are. I think we had a lot of growing pains at the beginning of the season, and we are still growing. We still left a lot of plays out there tonight. The thing is what we have in mind as a defense is that it is every man in that room. It’s not just one or two guys. It’s the whole defense. When got a bunch of hungry dogs and they really want it and come together as one, the sky is the limit and I think that is what we have.”
It might’ve taken some time for the defense to gel as a unit under new defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, but it feels as if they are coming together as a unit. The more time they have together the better they will be, as they are already showing.
