My, how times have changed.

New York's once red-hot playoff teams have cooled down quite a bit, and each now find themselves embroiled in a playoff series in which they once controlled.

The Rangers couldn't close out the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night, losing 4-1 in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers, who took the first three games of the series, now have to travel back to Carolina for Game 6 on Thursday night.

The Knicks return home to The Garden on Tuesday night after dropping Games 3 and 4 to the Indiana Pacers − Sunday afternoon's loss a complete blowout. The Knicks were ahead, 2-0, in the Eastern Conference semifinals, but now must win Tuesday to regain control of the series.
