Cameron Norrie is out of Queen’s after the British No 1 was defeated by Sebastian Korda in straight sets in the quarter-finals.

Norrie was targeting a home victory ahead of Wimbledon but was outgunned by the big-serving American, who won the second-set tiebreak 7-1 to wrap up a 6-4 7-6 win. His defeat means there will be no British interest, in singles or doubles, going into the weekend at Queen’s Club for the first time since 2012.

Korda will play Carlos Alcaraz after the top seed reached his first semi-final on grass with a 6-4 6-4 win over former Queen’s champion Grigor Dimitrov in the last match of the day.

Alex de Minaur became the first player through to the final four after holding off the challenge of Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in three sets. The Australian will play second seed Holger Rune in the semi-finals after the 20-year-old prevailed against the Italian Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets.

Carlos Alcaraz 6-4 6-4 Grigor Dimitrov - Game, set and match!

20:26 , Jamie Braidwood

Carlos Alcaraz is through to his first semi-final on grass, in just his third event on the surface!

“The matches that I played helped me a lot coming into this tough match. Grigor is a great player on every surface, but even more on grass. I played really well from the beginning until the end. The movement on grass, I watch the best players in the world trying to imitate them a bit. I’m learning fast and playing comfortable on grass.”

Alcaraz’s progress means all four semi-finalists at Queen’s are under the age of 25.

“It’s great to play against the young players, like me. We are going to play lots of matches in great tournaments, so it’s going to be really fun. Seb is a friend of mine and he is coming into it playing great. It will be a good match and I hope the crowd enjoy it.”

Carlos Alcaraz 6-4 6-4 Grigor Dimitrov - Game, set and match!

20:22 , Jamie Braidwood

Alcaraz makes no mistake in closing it out this time! The top seed is through to the semi-finals after an entertaining battle against Dimitrov, even if the Bulgarian rather lost his way at key moments in the match.

But Alcaraz will be happy with that as he continues to improve match by match on grass. There was an exhibition of quality shots and rallies there, a real step up from his previous matches.

The big-serving Sebastian Korda will be a very different test in the semi-finals tomorrow.

*Carlos Alcaraz 6-4 5-4 Grigor Dimitrov - Break!

20:18 , Jamie Braidwood

Would you believe it...

That is an absolute horror of a game from Dimitrov, who is broken to love after starting with a double fault and finishing with a tame backhand into the net.

What a tame way to throw away the break, just after it had been earned back.

Alcaraz will now serve for a place in the semi-finals.

20:13 , Jamie Braidwood

*Carlos Alcaraz 6-4 4-3 Grigor Dimitrov - Break!

20:06 , Jamie Braidwood

And now Alcaraz turns it around! On break point, he expertly drags Dimitrov out of position and places the backhand winner into the open court.

That’s four straight games for the top seed and the semi-finals are now within reach.

Carlos Alcaraz 6-4 3-3 Grigor Dimitrov*

20:03 , Jamie Braidwood

Dimitrov howls as he slices intot the net and a break point chances goes begging. Alcaraz responds with a trademark drop shot and series of stunning forehand drives, including a flashing winner into the corner, to level the second set at 3-3.

*Carlos Alcaraz 6-4 2-3 Grigor Dimitrov - Break!

19:53 , Jamie Braidwood

That’s not the time for a double fault: on Dimitrov commits a costly error and Alcaraz has the chance to break back.

On the return, Alcaraz paints one line, then he hits the other. The Spaniard comes into the net and puts away the smash.

Back on serve.

*Carlos Alcaraz 6-4 0-3 Grigor Dimitrov - Break!

19:42 , Jamie Braidwood

Now it’s Dimitrov’s turn to hit the front! This had been coming, but the Bulgarian breaks first in the second set with a wonderful forehand winner. His serve is really firing now, too, and it will be a challenge for Alcaraz to get back into this.

Yep, that’s a hold to love. Dimitrov is looking strong.

Carlos Alcaraz 6-4 Grigor Dimitrov* - Set!

19:31 , Jamie Braidwood

They are racing through the games now and Alcaraz takes a high-quality set with a high-quality backhand winner down the line. The 20-year-old holds to love twice in a row to close it out - class.

For Dimitrov, it comes down to that poor opening game. The former Queen’s champion will hope to keep with Alcaraz from the start in the second.

Carlos Alcaraz 4-2 Grigor Dimitrov*

19:16 , Jamie Braidwood

That’s more like it from Dimitrov, who goes on the attack and asks some testing questions of Alcaraz behind his stylish forehand and one-handed backhand slice.

He brings up break points, but actually brings out the best of Alcaraz! The Spaniard wins a stunning rally with a beautiful forehand drop shot.

This is turning out to be some match...

Alcaraz gets the hold after saving two break points.

Carlos Alcaraz 3-1 Grigor Dimitrov*

19:04 , Jamie Braidwood

It’s no surprise to see Carlos Alcaraz getting the home crowd onside by going into his bag of tricks early on. The Spaniard pulls out a sublime drop volley to move 3-1 up in this opening set, as he continues to look more and more comfortable on the grass.

Sebastian Korda 6-4 7-6 Cameron Norrie - Game, set and match!

18:42 , Jamie Braidwood

Up next on Centre Court is the top seed and world No 2 Carlos Alcaraz, who faces the former Queen’s champion Grigor Dimitrov.

Dimitrov is the only former Queen’s champion left in the draw.

This should be a great quarter-final to finish the day’s play.

Sebastian Korda 6-4 7-6 Cameron Norrie - Game, set and match!

18:39 , Jamie Braidwood

Sebastian Korda after beating Cameron Norrie in straight sets: “Massive. I’m playing really well on grass and feeling really comfortable. I’m just enjoying myself. It’s a great place. I’ve played some really good players this week. I’m definitely clicking.”

Sebastian Korda 6-4 7-6 Cameron Norrie - Game, set and match!

18:31 , Jamie Braidwood

Ruthless from Sebastian Korda! The American knocks Cameron Norrie out of Queen’s and ends British interest in the singles after winning the second-set tiebreak 7-1.

It rather summed up the match. Norrie made too many errors throughout in order to challenge Korda’s serve and when the American found his rhythm it was rather one-sided.

Korda is looking pretty strong ahead of Wimbledon and that big serve could get him a long way. He reached the Australian Open semi-finals earlier this year.

Cameron Norrie 3-6 6-6 Sebastian Korda - Tiebreak!

18:28 , Jamie Braidwood

Double fault from Norrie! That’s 4-0.

Norrie pushes Korda onto his backhand and is able to get onto the board at 4-1, but with Korda to serve next.

Ace from Korda! It’s 5-1 at the changeover.

Cameron Norrie 3-6 6-6 Sebastian Korda - Tiebreak!

18:27 , Jamie Braidwood

Norrie just can’t be doing that on the opening point of the tiebreak. He gifts Korda the mini-break as another forehand goes long. The American shows why with a huge serve down the middle for an ace, and a quick 3-0 lead.

Cameron Norrie 3-6 6-6 Sebastian Korda - Tiebreak!

18:26 , Jamie Braidwood

Norrie steadied well after losing the opening point on her service game to secure a tiebreak at least.

Korda then looked extremely comfortable, with Norrie’s returns pinging over the back of the baseline.

The American’s serve is looking difficult to dislodge as we head to a second-set tiebreak.

*Cameron Norrie 3-6 5-5 Sebastian Korda

18:19 , Jamie Braidwood

That’s an awesome service game from Korda - not a lot Norrie could do about that at all with the American finding his spots on serve.

We’re heading for a tiebreak at this rate.

Cameron Norrie 3-6 5-4 Sebastian Korda*

18:16 , Jamie Braidwood

This is much better from Norrie. A lot smoother, from his serve to his groundstrokes. He places a lovely forehand winner past Korda, with the American the unable to return his serve. That’s a love hold and the pressure is all on Korda now as he serves to stay in the set.

Cameron Norrie 3-6 4-3 Sebastian Korda*

18:11 , Jamie Braidwood

Korda shakes his head as Norrie frames a forehand but it drops and catches the baseline on 30-30. There’s a big fist pump from Norrie as he serves it out and edges ahead 4-3. He feels this second set has turned.

*Cameron Norrie 3-6 3-3 Sebastian Korda - Break!

18:08 , Jamie Braidwood

Grit from Norrie! He did not allow Korda to serve out that game, firing the returns at the American and pulling off a cleaner, more aggressive game from the baseline. It disrupts Korda, who then goes long after Norrie forced break point.

There’s a big roar from Norrie, who is doing all he can to stay in this match.

Cameron Norrie 3-6 2-3 Sebastian Korda* - Break!

17:58 , Jamie Braidwood

Urgh - that is not what the home crowd wanted to see. Norrie balloons a forehand long of the baseline on 15-30, offering Korda two break points.

Korda’s return is excellent - right into Norrie’s feet at the baseline - and the big American puts the pressure on as he advances into the net.

Norrie can’t find the pass and nets, as Korda makes the breakthrough.

Cameron Norrie 3-6 2-1 Sebastian Korda*

17:53 , Jamie Braidwood

Norrie tries to fire himself up with a smash past Korda as he holds to love - the players rattling through the first three service games of the second set.

How the home crowd would love a comeback here.

*Cameron Norrie 3-6 Sebastian Korda - Set!

17:43 , Jamie Braidwood

Norrie will have to return a lot better than this if he is to reach the Queen’s semi-final. On set point and facing a Korda second serve, Norrie blasts the forehand long of the baseline as the American gets ahead on the scoreboard.

Korda takes the opening set having served just 38 per cent on first serves - Norrie must take advantage on the second.

*Cameron Norrie 3-5 Sebastian Korda

17:36 , Jamie Braidwood

A half-chance for Norrie at 30-30 but the response from Korda is classy: following up his serve with early strikes on the forehand, winning the points and getting the hold. He moves a game away from the first set.

Cameron Norrie 3-4 Sebastian Korda*

17:31 , Jamie Braidwood

Big hold from Norrie! A couple of early errors handed Korda the advantage and break point, but Norrie found a lovely touch at the net to catch the line. The British No 1 then found his serve and lets out a big ‘come on’ as he holds.

*Cameron Norrie 2-4 Sebastian Korda

17:27 , Jamie Braidwood

Strange match, this, with very little rhythm so far. Norrie gets a look at two break points straight away but chucks away a backhand error as it drifts long. From there, Korda’s serve takes over. Norrie is giving away too many points when the ball is in play.

Cameron Norrie 2-3 Sebastian Korda* - Break!

17:21 , Jamie Braidwood

Korda teases a short return and then rushes the net to put away the smash against the Norrie serve. It brings up two break points and as the American fires a return at Norrie’s feet, it gets the American the breakthrough.

*Cameron Norrie 2-2 Sebastian Korda

17:18 , Jamie Braidwood

Korda thumps the first of what I’m sure will be many aces up the middle to get to 40-0, before Norrie can’t return the next serve. Two comfortable holds there after the opening tests.

*Cameron Norrie 1-1 Sebastian Korda

17:13 , Jamie Braidwood

Korda also faces a tricky test to start his opening service game as Norrie gets to 0-30, but the American starts to power the serves and the forehand winners to get his hold as well.

Korda has had a frustrating few months since reaching the Australian Open semi-finals at the start of the year, but is hoping to find form ahead of Wimbledon - where he could be a big threat.

Cameron Norrie 1-0 Sebastian Korda*

17:10 , Jamie Braidwood

And Norrie is up against it from the start! The big-serving Korda perhaps wouldn’t expect to get too many break-point chances today but gets an immediate look at 15-40. Norrie saves both, though, including with a powerful drive up the middle of the court and is able to close it out from there to get off the mark.

Cameron Norrie 0-0 Sebastian Korda*

17:05 , Jamie Braidwood

Here we go! Centre Court at Queen’s is packed for the British No 1, who will serve first after Sebastian Korda won the toss.

Cameron Norrie vs Sebastian Korda

16:58 , Jamie Braidwood

We’re heading for a late finish at Queen’s tonight with the third of four quarter-final matches only getting started after 5pm on this sunny Friday evening.

It’s a good thing they are a couple of crackers, however, with British No 1 Cameron Norrie vs Sebastian Korda next up.

Holger Rune 6-4 7-5 Lorenzo Musetti - Game, set and match!

16:49 , Jamie Braidwood

Alex de Minaur is up next for Holger Rune, which will be a real test given how well the Australian has been playing on grass. Lorenzo Musetti was erratic today, and De Minaur will not give away as many free points in the semi-finals.

“I’m starting to play better and better. I had some pain in the wrist since this morning - I took some painkillers and I feel ok now.” Hmm, doesn’t sound great.

On facing De Minaur: “He’s a great player, very dangerous and I will have to be ready. When I have beat him, it’s been some of the best tennis of my life.”

Holger Rune 6-4 7-5 Lorenzo Musetti - Game, set and match!

16:47 , Jamie Braidwood

Quality from Rune. The Dane once again faced 0-30 on serve but came up with the serve-volley, volley win and overhead smash to get to match point.

Musetti saves with a forehand winner on to the line - but Rune finds another big first serve.

Second match point: this time he goes to the kicker, and Musetti can’t keep his backhand in.

HUGE roar from Rune as he advances into the semi-finals! He had not won a match on grass until this week, but the 20-year-old now has three in a row.

Holger Rune 6-4 6-5 Lorenzo Musetti* - Break!

16:39 , Jamie Braidwood

Superb from Rune. After saving set points, Rune comes out firing and gives Musetti his best shot. Rune toys with the Italian and jumps into a 0-40 lead and three break points. Musetti’s head visibly drops and the backhand from the Italian droops into the net as well.

How quickly things change. Rune will serve for the second set next.

Holger Rune 6-4 5-5 Lorenzo Musetti*

16:35 , Jamie Braidwood

Clutch from Rune! Musetti was much braver on the big points and had looks at set point on two occasions. But Rune found the ace down the middle and then the forehand winner to save them both. The 20-year-old finally gets his hold with an emphatic smash.

Holger Rune 6-4 4-4 Lorenzo Musetti*

16:25 , Jamie Braidwood

For the third game this set, Musetti gets to 15-30 on the Rune serve.

And for the third game in this set, Rune wins every point from there to get the hold.

It’s down to a combination of Rune finding his serve and being bold on the second, and Musetti being a bit too hesitant.

*Holger Rune 6-4 3-4 Lorenzo Musetti

16:18 , Jamie Braidwood

Musetti takes a tumble on his shoulder as he goes to pick up a Rune drop shot, but is back up onto his feet quickly enough. Musetti chucks in a wild forehand miss at 40-30, but is able to get his hold on deuce in order to edge ahead once more.

*Holger Rune 6-4 2-3 Lorenzo Musetti

*DEATH STARE ALERT*

Musetti has all eyes for the ball but launches a smash straight at Rune, who turns his back and the ball strikes his legs. Rune turns and glares at his opponent, who holds his hands up.

Musetti fluffed a 40-0 lead, but is able to get his hold from deuce.

Holger Rune 6-4 2-2 Lorenzo Musetti*

16:05 , Jamie Braidwood

Musetti gets another look at 15-40 on the Rune serve but the Dane then switches it up and goes low with the slice, which Musetti can’t return. Rune is serving much better now, and closes the hold out from there.

Holger Rune 6-4 1-1 Lorenzo Musetti*

15:58 , Jamie Braidwood

Rune faced a tricky point at 15-30 but blasts the forehand winner past Musetti and then wins a battle at the net with an instinctive volley. It’s greeted by another big roar from the Dane.

Holger Rune 6-4 Lorenzo Musetti* - Set!

15:50 , Jamie Braidwood

What a strange, strange set. Holger Rune trailed 4-1 to Lorenzo Musetti after taking a medical timeout for a wrist injury, but the 20-year-old roars back and wins five games in a row to take the opening set. Musetti completely disappeared, although the Italian played two of his best points to save two set points. Rune, though, took the third with a forehand winner.

*Holger Rune 5-4 Lorenzo Musetti - Break!

15:42 , Jamie Braidwood

What on earth has happened to Musetti? Rune gets his hold behind an improving serve, but the Italian completely chucks the next game with an array of errors from around the court. Rune is moving better and looks much happier. Musetti is stunned and Rune will serve for the set next.

*Holger Rune 3-4 Lorenzo Musetti - Break!

15:35 , Jamie Braidwood

A couple of bad misses from Musetti to hand Rune the momentum back! From 30-30, the Italian went short with a drop shot from the baseline, and then pushed his forehand wide of the lines! Rune gets back in it, even if he looks less than 100 per cent.

Holger Rune 2-4 Lorenzo Musetti*

15:30 , Jamie Braidwood

Rune carries on but is not looking comfortable on his forehand side. Musetti senses his chance to strike after getting to deuce, but a couple of wayward shots on the backhand side get Rune his hold.

His body language is not looking too positive, however.

*Holger Rune 1-4 Lorenzo Musetti

15:22 , Jamie Braidwood

Oh, now this is a concern. Holger Rune is getting his right wrist looked at during a medical timeout...

*Holger Rune 1-4 Lorenzo Musetti - Break!

15:16 , Jamie Braidwood

So loose from Holger Rune! The Dane looked to be in a solid position on serve, but consecutive errors on the forehand and backhand sides presents a break point chance for Musetti. Rune saves the first, but then fires wide again on the forehand and Musetti is able to take the second chance after keeping the ball in play. Rune slices into the net from the forecourt.

It’s followed by a hold from the Italian, whose sliced backhand is causing Rune all sorts of early problems.

*Holger Rune 1-2 Lorenzo Musetti

15:05 , Jamie Braidwood

Both Rune and Musetti ease into things with a quick couple of service games - although Rune is ripping the backhand nicely already.

Musetti blinks on an overhead at 30-30 in the third game, but the Italian steadies to save two early break points.

Musetti eventually gets the hold as Rune goes low into the net on the running forehand. Good response from the Italian.

Holger Rune 0-0 Lorenzo Musetti*

14:54 , Jamie Braidwood

Next up at Queen’s is the battle between Holger Rune and Lorenzo Musetti, two of the brightest young stars in the game.

Rune, the second seed here and world No 6, has the higher profile after already winning two ATP 1000 titles, but there is plenty of excitement around Musetti too.

This is their first career meeting - and grass should level the playing field somewhat.

Musetti will serve first to get us going.

Alex de Minaur 6-4 4-6 6-4 Adrian Mannarino - Game, set and match!

14:39 , Jamie Braidwood

“To be honest we hate playing each other,” says De Minaur. “Whenever we play we know it’s going to be a chess match. I was able to hang on and I got a little lucky at the end, but I’ll take it to get back to the semi-finals.”

Alex de Minaur 6-4 4-6 6-4 Adrian Mannarino - Game, set and match!

14:37 , Jamie Braidwood

De Minaur gets over the line... just! The Australian was down 0-30 as he looked to serve it out but was able to make a key pick-up to stay in the game. From there, Mannarino unravelled. Three unforced errors in a row ensures De Minaur is the first player through to this weekend’s semi-finals.

That was a tough test - but the Australian is looking in impressive form.

*Alex de Minaur 6-4 4-6 5-4 Adrian Mannarino

14:31 , Jamie Braidwood

Massive from De Minaur! He shakes off the disappointment of the previous game and out-angles Mannarino with a series of stunning recovery runs and slicing shots. Huge roar from De Minaur, and the Australian will now serve for a place in the semi-finals.

Big break.

Alex de Minaur 6-4 4-6 4-4 Adrian Mannarino*

14:26 , Jamie Braidwood

A horrible service game from De Minaur and the match turns again! Mannarino steps up the aggression on the returns and gets his reward, with De Minaur forced into the net before putting a lob a foot long of the baseline.

Break.

*Alex de Minaur 6-4 4-6 4-3 Adrian Mannarino

14:21 , Jamie Braidwood

De Minaur races to pick up a drop shot from Mannarino and puts away the backhand pass to get to 15-30 on the Frenchman’s serve, before a series of deep strikes to the baseline sets up break point.

Mannarino saves with a well-placed volley, but a second quickly follows. De Minaur can’t take it, however, and wasn’t clinical enough from the baseline. Mannarino saves and gets away with his hold.

*Alex de Minaur 6-4 4-6 3-2 Adrian Mannarino

14:11 , Jamie Braidwood

Mannarino’s stunning sliced serve is still opening up all sorts of angles on the service game, but De Minaur is looking much better in the settled rallies. The Australian edges closer with a comfortable hold.

*Alex de Minaur 6-4 4-6 2-1 Adrian Mannarino

14:04 , Jamie Braidwood

Mannarino makes a string of errors as De Minaur is able to consolidate the break of serve, with the Australian catching the line on the forehand pass.

The Frenchman is able to steady and get on the board in this third set, but De Minaur has the match under control once again - and with the crucial break.

*Alex de Minaur 6-4 4-6 1-0 Adrian Mannarino

13:58 , Jamie Braidwood

What a twist! De Minaur seemed to have the match in control but a break from Mannarino right at the end of the second set means we are back level.

But as De Minaur catches the baseline with a backhand lob, the Australian suddenly gets a chance at 0-30. Mannarino goes wide on the backhand to bring up two break points.

And the match changes direction once again. Mannarino goes into the net and De Minaur breaks to start the third.

*Alex de Minaur 6-4 4-6 Adrian Mannarino

Can Adrian Mannarino break Alex de Minaur and force a third set?

He’s making a good go of it at 0-30 up. De Minaur’s serve brings him a couple of points as Mannarino is too loose with his returns but the Aussie errs by going over the back in the next rally.

Is the momentum of this match changing?

*Alex de Minaur 6-4 2-2 Adrian Mannarino

Break! What a point this is for Mannarino. The rally swings in favour for both players, De Minaur had the chance to smash a lob but was out of position.

He dinks it back at Mannarino who forces him deep into the corner. De Minaur responds with a looping return but Mannarino smashes it back at him and takes the game!

*Alex de Minaur 6-4 2-1 Adrian Mannarino

Wimbledon has announced that it will become the latest sporting event to utilise artificial intelligence (AI), with the All England Club to use the technology to help produce commentary for video highlights packages.

Starting at this year’s Championships, app or website users will be able to watch back highlights from the tournament with audio commentary and captions that have been solely produced by AI.

Working with IBM watsonx, the AI commentary will not replace human commentary as of yet, but will instead be used on the app for highlights without commentary and for matches that aren’t available on the show courts.
