QB Kyler Murray day-to-day with ankle injury

The Arizona Cardinals will not start their week of practice until Wednesday so there is no official injury report until then. But head coach Kliff Kingsbury did give an update on quarterback Kyler Murray, who has an ankle injury.

Murray sprained his ankle at the end of the Cardinals’ 24-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday.

Kingsbury said Murray is “still progressing through that.”

“I know the weekend definitely helped, so we’ll see where it goes from here,” he said.

He was not sure yet if Murray would be able to practice on Wednesday.

“I’m day-to-day with it,” he said. “We’ll see how it progresses (Tuesday), and then into Wednesday, and go from there. I don’t want to look ahead on that deal. We’ll see how he feels on Wednesday.”

Murray has not missed a start yet in his 2 1/2-year career. He played in the season finale in 2019 with a sore hamstring and, “last year at times he was pretty banged up,” Kingsbury added.

He has played when he hasn’t been 100%. They have confidence in backup Colt McCoy, but if Murray can play and can play well, he will.

“We’ll make sure that he’s in a good position to play at a high-level before we put him out there, that’s for sure.”
