The No. 5 (USA TODAY) Purdue Boilermakers open Big Ten Conference play against Minnesota.
Purdue (7-0) is coming off a win over Florida State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. As usual, Zach Edey led the way with 25 points and 8 rebounds, backed by Braden Smith (13 points, 9 rebounds) and Fletcher Loyer (11 points). Edey averages 22.1 points, 11.4 rebounds and 2.2 blocked shots.
The Golden Gophers (4-3) have lost two in a row, to UNLV and Virginia Tech. Dawson Garcia leads Minnesota (14.3 points, 6.0 rebounds), helped by Jamison Battle (11.3 points, 4.3 rebounds) and Ta'ion Cooper (10.4 points, 52.6% 3-point shooting, 7.0 assists and 3.0 steals).
Purdue beat Minnesota in Minneapolis 88-73 last season. Among players still on the roster, Edey had 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Battle scored 21.
