Pulaski's Karcz, De Pere's Wettstein among the top Week 7 high school football performers, plus rankings

WEEK 7 RANKINGS

West De Pere (6-1)

The starting units departed early in a 49-0 win over Green Bay Southwest. The Phantoms inched closer to a Week 9 showdown against Bay Port that will decide the Fox River Classic Conference-North winner.

It was West De Pere’s second shutout this season and the sixth time it has allowed 14 or fewer points. Up next is a road game against Green Bay Preble (1-6) on Friday.

Southern Door (7-0)

The team has not lost a game in the regular season since Mark Jonas took over as coach in 2022.

Southern Door beat Oconto 46-6, again displaying a certain level of dominance on both sides of the ball. It is averaging 37.9 points and allowing 6.9.

The Packerland Conference comes down to this week when the Eagles play at Kewaunee.

Southern Door won the title last season with a thrilling 19-14 victory, although Kewaunee got revenge in the playoffs.

Kewaunee (7-0)

The Storm had another lopsided victory in Week 7, this time a 56-8 win over Sturgeon Bay.

Kewaunee has defeated six of its seven opponents by double figures and hasn’t allowed more than eight points in any of the last five games.

It held Sturgeon Bay to 157 total yards.

Green Bay Notre Dame (6-1)

The Tritons all but wrapped up the FRCC-South title with a 42-14 win over Menasha. A win over Green Bay West (1-6) in Week 8 would clinch at least a share of the program’s first league championship since 2008.

With the way Notre Dame has played this season, it would be difficult to blame the team for believing it could play for a state title in Madison next month.

Bay Port (5-2)

The Pirates posted their second straight shutout with a 56-0 win over Ashwaubenon. It marks the fifth consecutive game the team has scored 40 or more points.

Bay Port hosts De Pere in Week 8. It went 2-0 against the Redbirds last season by the same 42-14 score, including in the opening round of the Division 1 playoffs.

Wrightstown (6-1)

Had an important win with a 20-13 victory over Fox Valley Lutheran, one of the better teams in the North Eastern Conference.

It was the fewest points scored by FVL this season and the first time since Week 2 it was held below 35.

The Tigers play at Little Chute (4-3) on Friday.

Luxemburg-Casco (6-1)

The Spartans remain atop the NEC after a 42-0 win over Denmark. It’s their second shutout of the season and the fifth straight game they have allowed two or fewer touchdowns.

L-C plays at Fox Valley Lutheran (5-2) in Week 8. The Spartans beat FVL 16-14 in the regular season in 2022 before losing 21-12 in the playoff rematch.

Both games came without L-C star quarterback Max Ronsman, who missed the last half of the season with an injury.

Oconto Falls (7-2)

One down, two to go.

The Panthers remain a game ahead in the Northwoods after a dominating 78-42 win over Clintonville, which was one of three teams in the league that started the week trailing Oconto Falls by one game in the standings.

Oconto Falls rushed for 589 yards in the win.

It plays at Crandon (7-2) in Week 8.

Pulaski (3-4)

One win away from clinching a playoff berth after a 49-26 win over Sheboygan North. It was a season high in points, topping the 35 it scored against De Pere in Week 3.

The Red Raiders host Southwest (0-7) on Friday.

De Pere (3-4)

Beat Preble 35-7 for its third win in the last four games. It was the fifth time the Redbirds have scored at least 35 points this season, and it was the third time it has held an opponent to seven or fewer points.

De Pere needs one win in the final two games to clinch a spot in the playoffs. Its game at Bay Port this week will be a difficult one with how well the Pirates are playing.

Green Bay Notre Dame's Christian Collins (22) breaks away for a 64-yard touchdown run against Menasha's Cole Calkins (44) and Ty Carlson (1) on Friday. The Tritons won 42-14 to inch closer to winning the FRCC-South title.
