The Hornets were the only team to host a regional this year and played at Runyon against Coronado in their first game of the day. This was a close and exciting one for the Hornets as they walked off against the Cougars 1-0.

In the second game of the day, the home team took on Montrose in which they made light work of 10-0 to advance to the state championship bracket.

With the state championship bracket now set, the Hornets are the lone Pueblo team to make it. They will face off against the Falcon Falcons on Friday at UCCS Mountain Lion Field at 9:30 a.m.

The Falcons enter the contest with a 19-5 record overall and a win against the Hornets earlier in the season, 10-6 at Runyon. The Hornets enter the matchup with a 20-5 record overall.

The Hornets ended their run in the playoffs last season with back-to-back losses. The first loss was to eventual champions Severance in the quarterfinals of the state championship bracket 14-6. They would then lose to Lutheran in the consolation bracket 6-4.

This year the goal for the Hornets has been to surpass the outcome of last season and bring home a state championship.
