Missouri football has a player in each round.

Ty’Ron Hopper is officially an NFL rookie after being picked by the Green Bay Packers in the 2024 NFL Draft on Friday in Detroit. The Packers used a third-round selection to bring the linebacker to Wisconsin, as Hopper heads to the league as the 91st-overall pick.

Here's what Hopper brings to the Packers, based on his career with Mizzou.

Ty’Ron Hopper doesn’t say much behind the scenes. But he’s pretty loud along a defensive front.

The Florida transfer and two-year Missouri starter made an instant impact to the Tigers’ linebacker room. He spent some of the 2023 season with an injury and missed the Tigers’ Cotton Bowl win over Ohio State, but when he was in games, he was almost always a threat.

Hopper probably isn’t ready to step into a starting role on Day 1 with the Packers, but given some time and development has the size and tools to be an incredibly useful linebacker in the league.

Hopper’s highlights, strengths, weaknesses at Missouri

Ty’Ron Hopper is a hard-hitting linebacker with a tremendous ability rushing the edge. Former Missouri defensive coordinator Blake Baker liked to blitz, and Hopper was frequently the man sprinting into the backfield.

He’s quick off the mark and is a solid asset stopping the run. Hopper’s field vision and ability to go boundary to boundary are questions heading to the league. Over his Missouri career, he had 20 tackles for loss and forced countless quick decisions from opposing quarterbacks.

When he drops into coverage, he’s shown the ability to keep his eyes on the quarterback and make plays, but he never managed to consistently produce in the backfield. That's likely an area he'll need to improve in the league. In his Missouri debut, he snagged an interception.

Hopper’s strength is when he’s attacking, and he has the motor to keep that going through four quarters.
