Preston Smith was lined up against Davante Adams during the MNF game. It didn't end well for the Packers.

Joe Barry's decisions as the Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator often perplex fans during and after games.

The latest happened on Monday night in the Packers' 17-13 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

With the Packers ahead 13-10, the Raiders were on the move and at the Green Bay 37-yard line with 2:38 left in the third quarter. It was second and 10 and star wide receiver Davante Adams was lined up out wide. Who was across from him? It had to be Jaire Alexander, the All-Pro cornerback who was back from injury, right? Or if not Alexander, it must have been Rasul Douglas, right?

No, it was linebacker Preston Smith.

Not surprisingly, it didn't end well for Smith and the Packers.

Jimmy Garoppolo, working out of the shotgun, found Adams and the three-time All-Pro wide receiver put an easy move on Smith and sped right past him for 21 yards down to the 16-yard line before Isaiah McDuffie made a tackle.

Four plays later, the Raiders scored a touchdown to regain the lead.

NFL social media couldn't believe that the 265-pound Smith matched up with Adams.
