Tuesday's results

SOFTBALL

SPRINGFIELD HIGH 1, LINCOLN 0: At UIS, Mia Volpert took command in the circle with 14 strikeouts and the Senators plated a run in the bottom of the third inning to post a Central State Eight Conference victory.

Volpert allowed three hits and walked zero. She scored the one run for Springfield (8-2 overall, 4-1 in the CS8) when she singled with two outs and stole second in the third. Kendall Knauer reached on an error on a ground ball and Volpert came home.

Lincoln outhit Springfield 3-2 with Grey Gilbert getting a pair of base hits for the Railers (4-8, 2-3). Lincoln could not capitalize on the solid pitching effort by Regan Kutz and Madison Wurth.

Kutz, the losing pitcher, struck out two, walked none and gave up two hits and one run (none earned), while Wurth didn’t allow a walk and pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts.  

BUFFALO TRI-CITY/SANGAMON VALLEY 7, PAWNEE 6: At Buffalo, Tiffany Farley furnished a single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning and scored the game-winning run on an error induced by a Lily Woodworth single.

Woodworth finished 2-for-3 with a double and RBI while also getting the win in the circle. She threw a complete game and allowed three earned runs on nine hits and one walk. She struck out 11. The Tornadoes improved to 13-3 overall.

Audrey Cooper supplied a double and two runs. Mackenzi Chandler had a hit with two RBIs and one run.

Adalyn Boblitt and Amber Bradbury each had two hits for Pawnee (7-3) in the MSM Conference loss.

GILLESPIE 17, VANDALIA 1 (4 innings): At Gillespie, the Miners scored 14 runs in the bottom of the third inning in a South Central Conference rout.

Paxton Reid went 3-for-3 and produced a two-run double, a two-run single and had a solo home run to end with five RBIs. Ava Parish, Macie Wright, Laci Schuckenbrock, Delaney Taylor and Addi Cox collected two hits each as Gillespie (11-3 overall, 1-0 in the SCC) ended with 14 hits.

Winning pitcher Emma Gipson struck out eight, walked none and gave up two hits. Gipson tripled and drove in two runs at the plate.

ROCHESTER 23, LANPHIER 1 (4 innings): At Lawless Park, Rochester scored 15 runs in the top of the second inning and recorded a Central State Eight Conference victory.

Raegan Rezba delivered the big blow for Rochester when she belted a grand slam in the second. She finished 2-for-2 with a double and three runs scored. Peyton Purves tripled twice and had three RBIs and Brooklyn Thompson added a pair of hits and scored three times.

The Rockets (11-4 overall, 3-1 in the CS8) took advantage of 13 walks. Mylie Deatherage had a two-run triple and Bella Harnes (1-for-1, double) ended with two RBIs.

Tamaih Jefferson doubled for Lanphier’s only hit and she also had two stolen bases.

CHATHAM GLENWOOD 16, JACKSONVILLE 0 (4 innings): At Chatham, the host Titans scored 14 runs in the first two innings for a Central State Eight Conference win and improved to 10-0.

Taryn Griffith unleashed three doubles and three RBIs. Sophia Feld had two hits with an RBI and two runs. Cassie Feld and Ava Bobb also had two hits apiece. Mollie Cascio scored three runs while Elizabeth Blum had a double with three RBIs.

ATHENS 13, PETERSBURG PORTA 1 (5 innings): At Athens, the Warriors led 2-1 before scoring 11 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull away.

Preslie Buckmaster contributed three hits and Aubrey Crispen provided a three-run double for Athens. Carly Szoke and Isabel Ingram drove in two runs apiece, while Reilen Reynolds and Livi Rhoades each went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.

Ingram was the winning pitcher. She went the distance, striking out two, walking three and allowing three hits and one earned run.

HAVANA 12, LEWISTOWN 2 (6 innings): At Lewistown, Kaydi Miller went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a home run to lead the Ducks to a Prairieland Conference victory.

Miller hit a run-scoring double in the second inning, belted a two-run homer in the fourth and drove in a pair of runs with another double in the sixth. Miller finished with five RBIs and four runs scored.

Havana third baseman Lily Snowden was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Libbie Johnson struck out four and gave up two runs — both unearned — on two hits and two walks. The Ducks improved to 4-8 (overall, 1-2 Prairieland).

STAUNTON 8, PANA 0: At Staunton, Kylie Lucykow drove in five runs in the Bulldogs’ South Central Conference win. Lucykow was 3-for-4 with a double and scored two runs. Taylor Nolan went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and smacked a double.

Samantha Anderson also went 3-for-4. Staunton pitcher Gianna Bianco struck out four and allowed six hits and one walk in her complete-game shutout.

STANFORD OLYMPIA 10, WILLIAMSVILLE 6: At Williamsville, Reese Larson and Norah Dodsworth led the Bullets’ offense in a Sangamo Conference loss.

Larson homered, went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs. Dodsworth was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Nicole Sinks added a solo home run for Williamsville.

AUBURN 16, NEW BERLIN 1 (6 innings): At New Berlin, five Auburn players finished with two hits each and pitcher Sydney Rabideau tossed a complete game for the Trojans.

Rabideau recorded seven strikeouts with one walk and yielded five hits. Mailee Schoen and Meena Taylor had two hits apiece, two runs scored and two RBIs each. Addison Jones and Taylor Patterson each scored three runs and chipped in two hits apiece.

Addison Wheatley went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Skylar Meats and Piper Taylor both drove in two runs for Auburn (11-4-1).

CARLINVILLE 6, GREENVILLE 3: At Carlinville, Hallie Gibson dialed up 16 strikeouts and the Cavaliers scored early in a South Central Conference victory.

Gibson walked zero, gave up three hits and three runs, none earned. Carlinville (11-2 overall, 1-0 in the SCC) plated three runs in the first inning and two in the second.

Kendal Maddox scored on a wild pitch and Addison Ruyle hit a two-run double in the first. Maddox had a two-run single in the second, and after Greenville got within 5-3 with three unearned runs in the fifth, Isabella Tiburzi (3-for-4) added an insurance run for Carlinville with a run-scoring single in the sixth.

NORTH MAC 11, HILLSBORO 1 (6 innings): At Virden, Abby Hendricks uncorked a two-run home run to center field and the Panthers cruised to a South Central Conference win.

Karleigh Prose went 4-for-4 with three runs. Ines Ortigosa had a double and finished with two hits, three RBIs and two runs. Alexis Bowman had two hits with an RBI and two runs.

Taylor Keirs earned the win in a complete game. She gave up one run on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts.

Kenzie Jarman homered for Hillsboro.

PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 6, LITCHFIELD/MOUNT OLIVE 5: At Piasa, Madison Fenstermaker hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Birds won a South Central Conference game.

Southwestern took a 5-4 lead with four runs in the fifth and Litchfield tied it when Georgia Glover tripled in a run in the top of the seventh.

Charlie Bono (2-for-4, two runs) had a solo home run and Elise Walch added a two-run single for Litchfield.

MAROA-FORSYTH 7, PLEASANT PLAINS 1: At Plains, Danni Hovey earned the win in a complete game with four strikeouts in a Sangamo Conference meeting.

She yielded just one run on six hits and one walk. She also provided two hits with an RBI. Kelci Kahler also doubled and finished with three hits and four RBIs.

Faith Nestler took the loss despite 14 strikeouts. She gave up 10 hits, two walks and two earned runs. Faith and Anna Nestler each had a double.

GIRLS SOCCER

SACRED HEART-GRIFFIN 2, ROCHESTER 0: At Rochester, Isabella Perryman scored for a 1-0 halftime lead and Caroline Sheehan added the insurance goal on a penalty kick en route to a Central State Eight Conference win.

The Cyclones (9-2, 3-1 CS8) were awarded a penalty kick early in the second half following a cross by Ava Hancock.

Rochester goalkeeper Alyse Day had a diving save after the break to keep the Rockets (7-4, 4-2) within one goal.

AUBURN 6, BEARDSTOWN 1: At Beardstown, Karlissa Clark and Katie Pace each scored goals in the first half to give the Trojans a two-goal halftime lead before comfortably winning the nonconference match.

Clark finished with a pair of goals. Her first came in 10 minutes, 30 seconds into the match to give Auburn (7-3-1) a 1-0 lead. Her second came 10:05 into the second half to put the Trojans up 3-0.

Pace finished with a goal and an assist, and Emme Divjak had three goals and two assists.

Lauren Spellbrink added a pair of assists while goalkeeper Abby Harvey made 12 saves for the win.

Beardstown (7-2-2) out-shot Auburn 13-10.

MACON MERIDIAN 2, RIVERTON BUFFALO TRI-CITY 1: At Macon, Molly Burgess and Nora Jordan each scored in the second half to rally the Hawks to a nonconference win.

Keirstan Shamblin scored for Riverton to go up 1-0 at the half. Briannah Walker had seven saves for the Hawknadoes (2-10-2).

In other action, Williamsville topped Athens 1-0 for a Sangamo Conference win to improve to 11-2 overall and 2-1 in the league.

Monday's results

SOFTBALL

BUFFALO TRI-CITY/SANGAMON VALLEY 5, WILLIAMSVILLE 4: At Buffalo, Lily Woodworth struck out 10 and allowed one earned run on five hits and two walks for the complete-game nonconference win.

Audrey Cooper went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Kamryn Sturdy supplied two RBIs with one hit.

Izzy Nowack, Nicole Sinks and Reese Larson each had a double for Williamsville. Elle Smithers took the loss in six innings. She gave up four earned runs on four hits and five walks with five strikeouts.

SPRINGFIELD HIGH 3, JACKSONVILLE 0: At UIS, Mia Volpert chalked up 17 strikeouts and gave up just two hits and two walks for the Central State Eight Conference victory.

Kendall Knauer had two hits and scored a run. Volpert and Megan Bullock also each scored.

Kenzie Law dialed up 11 strikeouts in six innings for Jacksonville. She gave up four hits, one walk and three runs.

GILLESPIE 3, COLLINSIVLLE 1: At Collinsville, Emma Gipson totaled 15 strikeouts and gave up just one unearned run on three hits in the complete-game nonconference win.

Ava Parish and Lauren Bertagnolli each had two hits for the Miners. Macie Wright had a hit and RBI.

AUBURN 2, SACRED HEART-GRIFFIN 1: At Auburn, Taylor Patterson’s bunt scored Izzy Kitchen for the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

It was Patterson’s only hit in the game. Addison Jones, Meena Taylor and Piper Taylor each dished up two hits. Meena Taylor grabbed the win with 12 strikeouts. She gave up one run on four hits and one walk.

CHATHAM GLENWOOD 2, MONTICELLO 1: At Monticello, Ava Bobb led off the second inning with the go-ahead solo home run to left field.

Cassie Feld delivered the RBI double in the first to score courtesy runner Hope Gilmore.

Feld and Ryleigh Kiel each had two hits for the Titans, who remain unbeaten at 9-0.

Irie Lohrenz fanned eight in a complete game. She gave up one run on seven hits and one walk.

LINCOLN 12, ATHENS 2 (6 innings): At Lincoln, Regan Kutz served up three hits at the plate while Kelsey Marten went 2-for-3 in the nonconference win.

Kutz picked up the win in two innings. She yielded one run on three hits. Taryn Stoltzenburg and Grey Gilbert also had two hits apiece for the Railsplitters.

PETERSBURG PORTA 5, MANITO MIDWEST CENTRAL 4 (9 innings): At Manito, Karlie Hoke reached home twice on two hits while Gabbie Branson had a hit, RBI and run for the Bluejays.

Branson threw a complete game with 10 strikeouts. She gave up three earned runs on five hits and four walks.

▶ PAWNEE 12, NORTH MAC 1 (6 innings): At Virden, Ava Rodriguez homered twice — including a grand slam — and went 4-for-4 with nine RBIs and three runs in the nonconference win.

Rodriguez also had a double.

Adalyn Boblitt also doubled and ended with three hits and three runs. Haley Maretti earned the win over four innings. She gave up one hit, three walks and one run with two strikeouts.

RUSHVILLE-INDUSTRY 14, BEARDSTOWN 11: At Beardstown, Katelyn Vogler homered and the Rockets compiled 15 hits to outlast Beardstown.

Vogler finished with two hits, two RBIs and three runs. Charlee Gerlemen recorded three hits and two RBIs. Elliot Hood had two hits and three RBIs while Italee Ford had a triple and three RBIs.

Shelby Goodrich and Kylynn Maltby each had two RBIs for Beardstown.

GIRLS SOCCER

ROCHESTER 3, NORMAL WEST 1: At Normal, Drea Smith tallied two goals to cement the nonconference win.

Jayda Sperry assisted the team’s first goal to Jaden Stockton while Smith added another for a 2-1 halftime lead. Cameryn Neussbaum assisted Normal West’s only goal to Sayre McReynolds.

Smith added the insurance goal after the break on a Taylor Offer assist. Rochester (7-3) took 13 shots on goal while Normal West had five.

AUBURN 9, RIVERTON/BUFFALO TRI-CITY 0: At Auburn, Karlissa Clark and Emma Divjak each recorded four goals for the Sangamo Conference win.

Lauren Spellbrink assisted Clark’s opening goal and the Trojans cruised to a 9-0 halftime lead.

Divjak also had two assists while Clark had one. Callie Gill assisted the final two goals to Divjak.
