Prep roundup: Williamston sweeps softball doubleheader

SOFTBALL

WILLIAMSTON 10, LANSING CATHOLIC 7 / WILLIAMSTON 12, LANSING CATHOLIC 10

Jaiden Griffith picked up the win in game one and went a combined 7-for-8 with two home runs, a triple and six RBI to lead the Hornets to a two nonleague wins over Lansing Catholic. Ava Jolin finished with a home run, a double and picked up the save in game two and Allison Kane notched two hits and a home run for Williamston.

EATON RAPIDS 23, IONIA 3 / EATON RAPIDS 15, IONIA 1

IONIA -- Izzy Hoag led the Greyhounds with three hits, a home run and six RBI in game 1 as Eaton Rapids picked up a pair of CAAC White wins. Ari Brooks picked up the win with 11 strikeouts and Taylor Orta went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI for Eaton Rapids.

BASEBALL

PARMA WESTERN 5, MASON 3 / MASON 6, PARMA WESTERN 5

MASON -- Ryan Myers went 2-for-3 in game two as the Bulldogs split a doubleheader with Parma Western. Colton McCaleb picked up two RBI and Isaac Johnson finished with two hits and a RBI for Mason.

OWOSSO 13, OVID-ELSIE 1 / OWOSSO 8, OVID-ELSIE 4

ELSIE -- Blake Binger picked up a team-high four hits through both games to lead the Trojans to a pair of nonleague wins over Ovid-Elsie. Owen Ott, Eden Ackley and Carson Moore each tacked on three hits for Owosso.

GIRLS SOCCER

OWOSSO 1, BYRON 1

OWOSSO -- Irene Fernandez punched in a goal from a Khloe Shattuck assist as the Trojans finished with a draw with Byron. Izzy Jameson and Adeline Mahoney each tallied a save for Owosso.
