Prep roundup: Olivet baseball captures CAAC White crown

BASEBALL

OLIVET 4, LANSING CATHOLIC 2 / OLIVET 8, LANSING CATHOLIC 2

Olivet clinched the CAAC White title with its doubleheader sweep on the Cougars. Trip Burkett threw a complete game five-hitter in the opening win, which featured Lalo Aguirre and Caleb Waffle each going 2-for-4 for the Eagles (25-5, 12-1). Waffle had a three-RBI double among his two hits, while Bryce Wine, Aguirre and Jackson Sinclair each had a pair of hits in the finale. Sinclair hurled six innings to earn the pitching win.

WILLIAMSTON 7, OWOSSO 1 / WILLIAMSTON 8, OWOSSO 6

Carter Gulick and Aiden Friess had a pair of RBI in the opener and Ryan Cuzydlo had a double and two RBI while helping Williamston earn a nonleague sweep. Eden Ackley and Liam Patrick each finished with a team-best three hits for Owosso.. Blake Binger and Carson Moore added a pair of hits for Owosso.

EATON RAPIDS 2, CHARLOTTE 0 / CHARLOTTE 2, EATON RAPIDS 1

Matt Wright fired a three-hitter while throwing a complete game shutout for Eaton Rapids in its win. Landon Jackson went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI to help Charlotte earn a split with an eight innings win over the Greyhounds. Nathan Penfield threw all eight innings for the Orioles and allowed just the one unearned run.

PERRY 14, WEBBERVILLE 3 / PERRY 15, WEBBERVILLE 1

Joey McGraw-Allen led the Ramblers with a combined five hits, three doubles, a triple and three RBI as Perry secured a pair of nonleague wins over Webberville. Brady Burns picked up five hits and four RBI, Cole Sawyer finished with four RBI and Nolan Krupp tacked on three RBI for Perry.

GIRLS SOCCER

HOLT 1, HOWELL 0

HOWELL ― Ella Marciniak-Jennings had a goal in the 38th minute that wound up standing for the Rams in their Division 1 district win. Taylor Crosslan registered four saves for Holt, which advances to face No. 11-ranked Hartland in a district semifinal Tuesday at Okemos.

ST. JOHNS 7, OWOSSO 0

Izzy Jameson picked up a team-high nine saves for the Trojans in a district loss to St. Johns. Adeline Mahoney tacked on six saves for Owosso.

DANSVILLE 9, HANOVER-HORTON 2

The Aggies had eight goals in the opening half while opening Division 4 district play with a win.

SOFTBALL

BATH 13, SARANAC 6 / BATH 11, SARANAC 0

Aubrie Schaibly had three hits and three RBI, Kaitlyn Dickey had three hits and two RBI and Haylee Awrey drove in three runs and earned the pitching win for the Bees in their opening CMAC victory. Kassi Buck had a double among her three hits and scored three runs. A. Ferguson and Kayla Sterzick each had home runs for Saranac. Isabelle Cokonougher had a home ru and three RBI, Abby Smith had a triple and three RBI and Dickey went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI to help Bath blank Saranac in the finale.

PERRY 11, WEBBERVILLE 0 / PERRY 13, WEBBERVILLE 3

Sara Austin notched both wins on the mound to lead the Ramblers to a nonleague sweep over Webberville. Madison Ralston finished with a combined four hits, a double, a home run, seven runs scored and four RBI, Emma Winans tallied a double and triple and Isabella Hammel chipped in a home run and three RBI for Perry.
