Prep report: Superior's Anderson scores 26 in win over Cloquet

Jan. 19—Superior's Calvin Anderson scored 26 points and Brandon Aker had 17 in an 80-59 win over Cloquet Friday, Jan. 19.

The Spartans (11-3) jumped out to a 39-29 lead and continued to pour it on in the second half.

Jack Battaglia had 23 points to lead Cloquet (7-9) and Seth Rothamel had 17.

Barnum's Pierce Korpela scored 29 points as the 10-4 Bombers blitzed McGregor 83-44.

Joining Korpela in double figures were Carlos Beckstrand with 16 points, Hayden Charboneau and Brock Hurst with 12 each and Bryce Ferguson with 10.

Sam Metzen scored 18 to lead the Mercuries and Greg McDowell scored 14.

Cromwell-Wright's Dylan Nyberg scored 21 points and hit five 3-pointers in an 84-21 win over Floodwood Friday.

Nyberg was one of four Cardinal players were in double figures, including Tanner Collman with 14, Josh Lindman with 13 and Dyne Cahoon and Brady Dahl with 10 each.

Jonah Spindler led Floodwood with 14 points.

Greenway rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to edge Northland 74-70 Friday.

Stephen McGee scored 28 points and Gage Olson added 17 for the 9-6 Raiders.

Former Silver Bay player Dylan Schwarz led Northland with 26 points.

Moose Lake/Willow River's Adam Neumann and Nolan Nelson each had 21 to lead the Rebels to an 84-40 win over Carlton/Wrenshall.

MLWR (12-3) scored 52 first half points to take command and the blowout victory.

Luke Dewey added 15 for the Rebels and Eli Youngs had 12.

Luuke Korpela scored 16 to lead the 8-4 Raptors.

Esko's Koi Perich led all scorers with 20 points to lead his 8-3 team to a 69-45 home win over Two Harbors Friday.

The Esko offense was firing on all cylinders in the first half and built a 41-24 lead. The scoring slowed, but the defense kept the Agates locked down in the second half of the 24-point win.

Sam Haugen and Braedyn Male joined Perich in double figures with 17 and 11 points, respectively.

Isaiah Heitala scored 20 to lead Two Harbors (8-7).

Chisholm's Tresa Baumgard scored 40 points in a 70-49 win over Greenway Friday.

The 13-3 Bluestreaks built an 11-point halftime lead and continued to add to it in the second half.

Lydia Johnansen led Greenway (7-9) with 12 points.

Cherry's Anna Serna scored 27 points to lead the Tigers to a 68-31 win over Carlton/Wrenshall Friday.

Cherry (6-9) raced out to a 37-17 halftime lead and cruised to the win. Faith Zganjar scored 19 for the Tigers and Aimeelee Grotberg added 10.

Megan Matarelli led the Raptors (2-12) with 10 points.

White Bear Lake's Dylan Buetow scored midway through the second period and Maverick Timmons scored in the third period to give the Bears a 2-0 win over Grand Rapids Friday at Yanmar Arena.

Nolan Roed assisted on both White Bear Lake goals and goaltender Leo Gabriel stopped 32 shots in the shutout.

Carter Casey made 15 saves for Grand Rapids.

The Hilltoppers showed no ill effects from a long layoff, as Ilsa Lindaman scored four times, two of them on the power play, to knock off the Pirates at the Crookston Sports Center.

Avery Lian scored Marshall's other goal and added two assists. Goaltender Ray Anderson made 30 saves.

Rock Ridge rallied from a 2-1 first period deficit to top Visitation 8-2 Friday at the Hippodrome in Eveleth.

Mayme Scott had a hat trick in the second period and five total points in the period as the Wolverines scored six goals and took command of the game.

Nola Kwiatkowski made six saves in the win for Rock Ridge.

Gracia Munoz scored both first period goals for Visitation and Chloe Munoz had 26 saves.

Moose Lake Area's Gracie Hartl scored four goals as the Rebels blew out Northern Lakes 8-0 Friday.

Hartl scored twice in the first period and once each in the final two periods for MLA.

Hallie Klavu scored twice in the second period, with Malea Jerry and Jenna Jusczak adding the other two goals for the Rebels.

Mallory Hartl stopped 14 shots in the shut out.

Kayla Landt made 17 saves for Northern Lakes.
