Power rankings: Bills are PFF’s top dog

Heading into the quiet weeks of the NFL offseason, the Buffalo Bills received a pleasant surprise from Pro Football Focus.

PFF released an updated power-rankings poll on Monday. In it, the Bills land in the top spot from the football analytics outlet.

Here’s the breakdown:

1. BUFFALO BILLS
It’s tough to look beyond the Bills as the single best roster in football. They didn’t even make it to the AFC Championship last season, but they were 13 seconds and some suicidal defense away from doing so at the end of the game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Josh Allen proved that his breakout year was no fluke, and the Bills has been able to add luxuries such as Von Miller to try and put them over the top.

In taking PFF’s top spot, the Bills edge out two NFC teams in the top three. That pair is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Rams, respectively.

The closest AFC foe in the poll is the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth spot.

Regarding the division, there isn’t any good news there for the Bills’ closest rivals.

The closest AFC East team to Buffalo on PFF’s power rankings is the New England Patriots all the way down at No 18. They edge out the Miami Dolphins, who slot in at 19.

The New York Jets bring up the rear at No. 25.
