Possible Jarvis Landry return to Browns chance ‘decreased’ since the NFL draft

Since the Cleveland Browns acquired QB Deshaun Watson, there have been reports about both Jadeveon Clowney and Jarvis Landry returning to the team. Albert Breer noted that neither was likely to return if Baker Mayfield was still the starter.

Landry was even interested in joining Watson if he joined the Atlanta Falcons.

While everything still seems to point toward Clowney’s return, with no reporting of interest elsewhere, Landry’s return seems less likely.

Before the NFL draft, the former LSU star took a visit to his home state team, the New Orleans Saints. While that visit could lead to a signing, it has not yet.

The Browns added David Bell, a slot receiver at the NFL level most likely, and Michael Woods II, more of an outside receiver, in the draft. They also added undrafted free agent Isaiah Weston, reportedly, who has high-level athletic attributes.

The Ravens, on the other hand, traded away Marquise Brown and haven’t added a receiver to replace him. Second-year pro Rashod Bateman leads the receiving corps while TE Mark Andrews is Lamar Jackson’s most targeted pass catcher.

Landry would make sense filling a veteran role on a run-first team in Baltimore but could be a part of a revamped offense in New Orleans. Either way, it seems that a return to Cleveland is unlikely at this point.
