Portage County high school scores | May 5: Shelbie Krieger notches no-hitter

Shelbie Krieger tossed a no-hitter Friday as Rootstown softball scored an 8-0 victory over visiting Southeast to remain alone in first place in the Portage Trail Conference.

Krieger, a Miami (Ohio) commit, struck out 15 of the 23 batters she faced, just two above the minimum.

Jessica Hahn homered and scored three runs for the Rovers, while Krieger and Reise Thomas each doubled and Zoe Noel joined Thomas in tying for the team lead with two hits apiece.

Baseball

Roosevelt 13, Ravenna 3

The Rough Riders began the David Starkey Memorial Classic with a nine-run bottom of the first, adding four more runs in the second.

Donovan Daetwyler, Mikey Haney III and Jon Jon Smith each went 3-for-3, while Teddy Maccarone, Logan Poole and Scottie Spears added two hits apiece for Roosevelt.

Senior Jason Spurlock allowed a single unearned run in four innings to pick up the win for the Rough Riders (14-5).

Emmanuel Miller went 3-for-3, including a pair of doubles, to lead the Ravens.

Southeast 5, Rootstown 2

Nate Muncy threw a gem for the Pirates, striking out 10 while scattering a single run and two hits in five innings.

Ian Carter and Caleb Miller had two hits apiece for Southeast.

Tony Karp singled and doubled to lead Rootstown.

Bryce Harless tossed five scoreless innings in relief for the Rovers after the Pirates scored five runs in the second.

Aurora 4, Barberton 3

The Greenmen picked up a key win Friday to remain in sole possession of first place in the Suburban American.

Nolan Just got the win for Aurora, allowing a pair of unearned runs over four innings and striking out seven. Fellow senior Alex Harrell tossed the final three innings, allowing a single run.

The Greenmen won despite recording just five hits, with three of those coming from Dom Trivisonno.

Windham 18, Lordstown 0

Jack Eye, Chase Eye and Wyatt Hanshaw combined on a no-hitter for the Bombers, striking out a combined 11 batters.

Jack Eye added a monstrous day at the plate, with a double, a homer, three runs and five RBIs. Lucas Churchill also homered.

Dylan McCune led Windham with three hits and tied with Jack Eye for the team lead with three runs. Jordan Smithberger added two hits, two runs and two RBIs.

Field 2, Revere 0

The Falcons recorded their 15th win of the season as Braxton Baumberger and Kayden Smith combined on a two-hit shutout against the Minutemen.

Baumberger, who pitched the first five innings to pick up the win and move to 5-1, also drove in one of Field's two runs.

Jackson-Milton 5, Waterloo 4

The Vikings fell Friday despite Noah Hughes going 3-for-3 and Aric May racking up three stolen bases.
