Smithsburg’s Michael Wynkoop and Boonsboro’s Macy Rhinaman voted Athletes of the Week
Smithsburg’s Michael Wynkoop and Boonsboro’s Macy Rhinaman were voted The Herald-Mail’s Washington County Athletes of the Week for Oct. 9-14.
The voting was conducted online Monday afternoon through noon Thursday.
Wynkoop, a sophomore cross country runner, earned the boys honor with 42.37% of the vote (525 votes). He placed second out of 107 runners at the Kent Island Invitational in 17:05.
Rhinaman, a senior soccer player, was the girls winner with 38.43% of the vote (445 votes). She scored three goals in a win over South Hagerstown and had the Warriors’ lone goal against Francis Scott Key.
The other girls nominees were Smithsburg’s Leah Howe (soccer) and St. Maria Goretti’s Sydni Smith (volleyball).
The other boys nominees were Hancock’s Isaiah Demory (football) and South Hagerstown’s Lance Ford (football).
