Pitching gems and more: Vote for the High School Athlete of the Week
Norwich Free Academy sophomore Ryan Cleary has been voted The Bulletin “Athlete of the Week.” The Wildcats third baseman had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and an RBI in a season-opening 6-2 baseball win over No. 8 Killingly.
Last week saw plenty of standout performances in baseball, softball, and boys and girls golf across Eastern Connecticut. While there's no shortage of talent, we went and found the best of the best.

Andrew Hardin, Griswold
Wolverines junior allowed one earned run over six innings while striking out seven in Griswold’s 10-5 win over Ledyard. Hardin also had two hits at the plate.
Dominik Kubera, Killingly
Killingly junior tossed a complete game without allowing an earned run to lead Killingly to a 2-1 victory over East Lyme. Kubera, who scattered five hits, set down 14 of the last 15 Vikings batters.

Rose Lopez, Ellis Tech
The Golden Eagles sophomore tossed her first career no-hitter in leading Ellis Tech to a 23-0 (5) victory over Grasso Tech. Lopez struck out 11 and walked two. She also went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and five runs scored.
Kendra St. Marie, Killingly
Killingly junior earned medalist honors with a 50 as Killingly edged Woodstock Academy, 219-228, to capture its first win in program history
Hailey Smith, Norwich Free Academy
Wildcats senior pitcher tossed a complete-game shutout with five strikeouts as the Wildcats topped Old Lyme, 2-0.

Colin Williams, Plainfield
Panthers junior shot a 41 in Plainfield’s 6-1 win over Windham.
