Pisgah girls basketball season comes to an end with AHSAA Elite Eight loss to Ider

JACKSONVILLE — Pisgah girls basketball's season came to an end in the AHSAA Elite Eight after a 72-48 loss to Ider on Wednesday at Pete Matthews Coliseum.

The Eagles (21-11) led at the beginning of the game, after scoring the game's opening points as Ider controlled the contest, leading by 10 at the half and never looking back in the second half. The Eagles shot 25% from the field and 0 of 6 from 3-point range in the first half, contributing to the big deficit. Paisley Patalas had almost half their points with 12 points and five rebounds in the first half.

The second half didn't see much of a change for the Eagles who continued to struggle shooting, especially from deep, going 3 of 14 for the game. They shot 30% from the field for the game as Ider pulled away late in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles were led by Patalas, who scored 19 points on 6 of 11 shooting with six rebounds. Campbell Barron, the star of the Sweet 16 win had 16 points, with two of the made 3-pointers. Ashton Childress had 13 rebounds.

The Eagles didn't advance to the Final Four for the second straight season after winning the title five consecutive years from 2018 to 2022, with the first three coming at the 3A level and the second two coming at the Class 2A level.
