Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Commanders: Predictions, picks and odds for NFL Week 8 game

The Washington Commanders (3-4) host NFC East division foe the Philadelphia Eagles (6-1) in Week 8 for their second matchup of the season.

In the first game, the Eagles won 34-31 in overtime. The underdog Commanders kept the reigning NFC Champions on their toes and scored 14 points in the fourth quarter. The Eagles had 11 penalties for 81 yards, but Jalen Hurts went 25-of-37 for 319 yards and threw two touchdowns, both to AJ Brown.

Last week, Philadelphia shined in primetime at home, beating AFC powerhouse the Miami Dolphins 31-17 in their Kelly Green uniforms. Hurts played the second half with a brace on his left leg and said after the win he'd be OK. Veteran receiver Julio Jones made his debut and had a catch for three yards while Brown had another stellar day with 10 catches for 137 yards and a score.

Meanwhile, Washington fell 14-7 in a road game against the New York Giants and was outplayed offensively 356 yards to 273. They committed 10 penalties for 75 yards. Sam Howell went 22-of-42 for 249 yards and threw an interception. He was sacked six times.

Lorenzo Reyes: Eagles 30, Commanders 14

Philadelphia might be the most complete team in the NFL. The Eagles are lethal in short yardage, boast a nasty defensive line and have speed and athleticism across the board. The Commanders are awful at home, going 0-3 against the spread and Sam Howell has thrown six of his seven interceptions at FedEx Field.

Tyler Dragon: Eagles 28, Commanders 16

Philadelphia had a big bounce-back win in Week 7. The “Brotherly Shove” has become part of the Eagles identity. They play a physical brand of football that most teams have a difficult time matching. Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen is tired of losing. Unfortunately for Allen and the Commanders, another loss is on the way.

Safid Deen: Eagles 27, Commanders 17

The Eagles reclaimed their spot as the best team in the NFC last week, while the Commanders are just a frustrated bunch after years of mediocrity. Washington will play Philadelphia close, but Jalen Hurts leads the Eagles to victory in the second half of this one.

Victoria Hernandez: Eagles 27, Commanders 23

Philadelphia is riding high off their primetime win in their Kelly Green uniforms. And they’ve already beaten Washington once this season. It won’t be as high-scoring an affair and as down-to-the-wire as the Week 4 win, but they’ll have their notes ready and sweep the series even if Jalen Hurts is a bit hurt.

Jordan Mendoza: Eagles 31, Commanders 27

The first matchup between these two was a thriller and you can expect the same this time around. The Eagles won't be as great as they were against Miami, but they still have all the tools to beat Washington a second time. Philadelphia is able to pull away at the end for a close win.
