PFF believes Raiders could trade QB Derek Carr during 2023 offseason

When the Raiders traded for Davante Adams, the belief was that he and Derek Carr would play the next several seasons together and make the franchise a contender. But after nine games, there is a chance that this will be their only season together.

In a recent article by Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus, he wrote that the Raiders could consider trading Carr this offseason. What could the Raiders get for Carr? Here is what Kyed had to say about Carr and his interest around the league:

“The source predicted Carr could garner a second-round pick plus. It will be interesting to see if teams are as willing to trade for veteran quarterbacks this offseason given the lack of success those acquired via trade — such as Wentz, Matt Ryan, Russell Wilson and Baker Mayfield — have had this season.”

If the Raiders do wind up with a top-three pick in next April’s draft, it’s certainly something the team would have to explore. And if the Raiders decide to move on from Josh McDaniels, you certainly can’t rule out the possibility that a new head coach would want his own quarterback to work with.

There is a lot of uncertainly surrounding the Raiders right now, but that is expected when the team is 2-7 and is underperforming. The best way Carr can make sure that he’s not in trade rumors going forward is to play well.

With eight games left in the year, Carr needs to play better to ensure that he remains the franchise quarterback of the Las Vegas Raiders.
