Peyton Manning, ManningCast left in awe after Jets' Xavier Gipson scores walk-off punt TD

Monday night may have been a pyrrhic victory of sorts for the Jets, but what a victory it was.

Peyton Manning spent much of Monday's Jets Bills game looking miserable, but even he couldn't help but burst out laughing at the end. And, in one sense, he even called the final outcome of the Jets' 22-16 win over Buffalo.

The former Tennessee quarterback was half of the ManningCast on-hand to watch the "Monday Night Football" action. After the elder Manning brother in particular seemed visibly affected by Zach Wilson's play at quarterback, he, younger brother Eli and guest Ryan Fitzpatrick were nearly shocked silent during undrafted rookie Xavier Gipson's walk-off punt return for a touchdown:

"Walk-off," Peyton Manning said on the cast. "Walk-off."

Muttered Eli Manning: "You've got to be kidding me. Walk-off punt return to win the game in overtime."

As Fitzpatrick just shook his head, the Mannings gathered themselves and talked about the game at hand, including the energy at MetLife. On a night where Aaron Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury on the first series of the game after an entire offseason of hype, the Jets found themselves locked in a battle with a Bills for a full 60 minutes that took overtime to be decided. A miraculous touchdown catch by Garrett Wilson was a key catalyst in sending the game to OT, but that wasn't the highest moment of the Jets' night.

That moment came courtesy of Gipson out of Stephen F. Austin, who walked the game off with a punt return touchdown after the Bills went three-and-out in extra time. It closed out a 22-16 win for the Jets, and immediately immortalized Gipson.

Gipson was a darling of "Hard Knocks" coming into the season, thanks in part to the scene where he found out he made the team.

The Jets have been compensated well for that decision already. Now they turn to the difficult task of navigating without their marquee offseason acquisition for the time being.
