Penn State snapshot profile: No. 51 Hakeem Beamon

Going into the 2022 football season, Nittany Lions Wire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Penn State roster.

Over the preseason, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for James Franklin this season.

Hakeem Beamon is one of many options on the Penn State roster sitting at the defensive tackle position going into the 2022 season. Here is a snapshot profile at one of Penn State’s reserves on the defensive line this fall.

Depth Chart Overview

AP Photo/Keith Srakocic

Hakeem Beamon (No. 51, pictured) is likely to be a player sitting deep on the Penn State depth chart in the middle of the defensive line. The position appears to be pretty stacked in 2022 with the return of a healthy [autotag]PJ Mustipher[/autotag] (No. 97, pictured above) locking down his starting role once again and [autotag]Coziah Izzard[/autotag] a potential starter along his side. The defensive tackle position is also full of talent with players like [autotag]Dvon Ellies[/autotag] and [autotag]Jordan van den Berg[/autotag] as top backup options and the quick rise of freshman [autotag]Zane Durant[/autotag] also in the mix.

Beamon did not see any game action in 2021, allowing him to preserve a redshirt season of eligibility, but he did appear in eight of Penn State’s nine games played in 2020 as a redshirt freshman. At the very worst, Beamon provides some more depth at the defensive tackle position that can always come in handy if needed.
