Pembroke cruises into 8-man football state semifinals

The Pembroke Dragons turned the 8-man high school Far West state regional game into a mismatch.

Pembroke went off and running to a 49-20 win Friday night over Frewsburg of Section VI at Pittsford Sutherland.

Tyson Totten took the first snap of the game in shotgun formation and sprinted down the middle of the field 54 yards to score the first of five touchdowns in the playoff game. The Dragons (11-0) led 43-0 at halftime.

Pembroke senior Tyson Totten, who scored all five of his touchdowns in the first half. Totten reached the end zone untouched the first three times he carried the ball, but an 86-yard run was wiped out by a penalty. Totten scored on an 82-yard run the next play.

What's next

The Dragons are ranked No. 1 in the state and face the Section III champion, either Frankfort/Schuyler or West Canada Valley, in what is called a state sub regional 1 p.m. November 18 at Waterville.
