PCD rolls to first girls volleyball crown, besting Hope in Div. 4 final
The Providence Country Day girls volleyball team made school history on Saturday morning, winning its first state title by blanking Hope, 3-0, in the Division IV state championship match. PCD won 25-15, 25-20, 25-18 to complete a stellar season on the court.
"It was a great team victory led by our senior leadership of our four captains Ama Koran, Serena Souza, Ella LaFrenier and Katrina Zysk," said PCD head coach Brad Clarkson.

PCD finished the regular season at an impressive 19-1 and marched to the Div. IV title game after defeating Davies (3-0) in the semifinal round. Hope finished its season at 10-6, and defeated Blackstone Valley Prep (3-2) in the quarterfinal round, then No. 2 seed Mount Pleaseant (3-2) to reach the Saturday final.
"We have two daily team goals that we talk about every practice, number one being to be good teammates on and off the court , and number two to improve every day. We believe that if we can do those two things everything else will fall in line," Clarkson said in an email.
He also credited the Blue Wave and coach Donn Chu as a vastly improved team that provided a tough test. "Even though we ended up winning three games to none every single set was a back-and-forth and just tough."
