PBP Classic: Darryn Peterson returns with Huntington Prep, Louisville faces Lutheran East
CANTON — Memorial Field House will play host to Saturday night's Canton Play-By-Play Classic, featuring a mix of local and regional boys basketball powers.
Canton native Darryn Peterson and Huntington Prep (W.V.) face Richmond Heights at 5 p.m., followed by Louisville facing Lutheran East at 7.
Lower level tickets are $23 and upper level tickets are $20. Student tickets are $12.
Peterson, a five-star recruit in the class of 2025 with numerous college offers, played his first two varsity seasons with CVCA before leaving for Huntington Prep.
Richmond Heights is the two-time defending state champion in Division IV. The Spartans are 11-8, led by Dorian Jones, a four-star recruit in the class of 2025.
Louisville is 18-2 and the No. 4 tournament seed among Northeast Ohio Division I teams. The Leopards advanced to a Division II regional final two years ago, before getting bumped up to D1 last year and losing in a district semifinal. The trio of senior Hayden Nigro and juniors Brayden Gross and Beau Siegfried lead the Leopards.
Lutheran East (16-4) is the two-time defending state champion in Division III, ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press D3 state poll and seeded No. 1 in the D3 Northeast District. The Falcons are led by Michigan State recruit Jesse McCulloch.
