Patriots waive offensive line hopeful on Friday

The New England Patriots announced they are waiving offensive lineman Hayden Howerton on Friday.

Howerton joined the team back in November 2022 after being released by the Tennessee Titans. He was signed to the Patriots practice squad and ultimately landed a futures deal with the team in January.

It’s a tough break for the former Southern Methodist standout. The Patriots love versatility, and coming out of college, few were more versatile than Howerton, who started at left guard, center and right guard.

He arrived in the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent. So the work ethic it took to land opportunities with the Titans and Patriots could propel him to a third chance elsewhere.
