Patriots OT Trent Brown has valid excuse for missing minicamp practice

New England Patriots tackle Trent Brown missed the first day of mandatory minicamp on Monday, but not for the reason you might have expected. Mass Live’s Mark Daniels reported that Brown’s flight from Texas was canceled due to a hailstorm.

This isn’t the first time the Patriots have dealt with a weather-related absence. Malcolm Butler missed OTA’s in 2015 also because of weather.

Brown figures to be a major part of the team’s offensive line this season. He is the only returning starter at tackle. He started on the left side last season opposite of Isaiah Wynn, who is now with the Miami Dolphins.

He is in the second year of a two-year contract and is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the season.

New England will need stellar offensive line play as they look to stay competitive in a talented AFC East division. Part of their ability to do so means Brown being in the lineup and firing on all cylinders.
