Patriots listed as underdogs in Sunday’s home opener vs. Ravens

The New England Patriots face an uphill battle in Sunday’s home opener against the visiting Baltimore Ravens, at least according to Tipico Sportsbook.

In the latest odds for the upcoming AFC showdown, the Patriots are listed as 2.5-point underdogs at Gillette Stadium, which isn’t a surprise considering the opponent.

Yes, the Ravens got embarrassed in a Week 2 fourth-quarter meltdown against the Miami Dolphins, but they’re still a team many consider to be a playoff contender. They also have one of the most electrifying players in the game at quarterback with Lamar Jackson.

But this Patriots defense means business.

They only gave up one offensive touchdown to the Dolphins, and that was on a blown coverage play. And they went into Pittsburgh and did the same thing against the Steelers at Acrisure Stadium.

The biggest question mark for the Patriots is on the offensive side of the ball. If the Ravens start to pour it on the scoreboard, can quarterback Mac Jones and the offense match that firepower on the other end?

The answer to that question could very well decide the outcome of the game on Sunday.
