Patriots Daily: Weekend wrap; Lord of the Rings
With the end of minicamp on Thursday, the news blitz out of Foxboro has come to a screeching halt. However, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t an eventful weekend for the defending Super Bowl champions.
On Friday, at owner Robert Kraft’s house, the Patriots received their Super Bowl LI rings, commemorating their 34-28 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. To pay tribute to the 28-3 comeback, 283 diamonds were used in creating the stunning piece of jewelry.

Although the event wasn’t broadcasted, and for good reason, social media brought to life the entire event through the eyes of the players. Countless Instagram and Twitter posts rolled in Friday night, June 9th, as Patriots’ Nation awaited the unveiling. And of course the photo of Tom Brady wearing all five rings.

The lavish, almost annual event, is one of the last celebrations of the championship team. The final one being the raising of the banner and after that, the championship is truly in the rearview mirror.
Back to Friday. At each player’s seat, a locked box holding the ring awaited them. It wasn’t until Mr. Kraft revealed the combination that the players were able to open it.
It don’t mean a thing, if you don’t win that ring

Kyle Van Noy documented the revealing of the lock combination on Instagram, an exciting time for all the players involved.

Former Patriots LeGarrette Blount, Logan Ryan, and Martellus Bennett were on hand for the celebration. Bennett did not disappoint either, getting Tom Brady to show off his collection of rings.
Last night was dope. Tonight will be even better. #Celebrating6

Interesting celebrity performances
Coincidence? Or incredible trolling by the Patriots? Snoop Dogg, notable Steelers’ fan, and Gucci Mane, Falcons fanatic were on hand for the celebration. Much to the chagrin of some Steelers and Falcons fans.

Snoop Dogg really embraced it, at one point trying on all of Brady’s five rings while adorning Patriots’ gear all night long.
Hand full a rings I’m shaded like Brady swivel. Off that Neva left

What’s next for the Patriots?
On opening night they will turn the final page on their 2016 Championship campaign as they raise ‘Banner 5’ at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots will now turn their attention to the final minicamp practices that run June 12th, 13th, and 15th. After that, training camp in late July and then finally football. Until then, Patriots fans and players can bask in the glory of the newest ring.
