Patriots center James Ferentz announces retirement on Instagram

New England Patriots offensive lineman James Ferentz announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday. Ferentz has played with the Patriots since 2018. He made the announcement of his retirement on Instagram.

He was signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He also spent time at the Denver Broncos in 2015 and 2016. However, he found a permanent role with the Patriots beginning in 2017. During that run, he appeared in 40 games and started in 10 of them.

Ferentz was a part of two Super Bowl teams in New England. He has been a mainstay on the offensive line and has provided depth in crucial spots for the organization.

New England didn’t agree to a contract extension with Trent Brown on Monday. That situation combined with Ferentz’s retirement indicates the winds of change are truly blowing on the Patriots’ offensive line.
