Patriots activate C David Andrews, elevate 2 reserves ahead of 49ers contest

The New England Patriots made a series of roster moves on Saturday, including the activation of starting center David Andrews.

Andrews was placed on the injured reserve list with a hand injury prior to Week 3 and had to stay on the list for a minimum of three weeks. His presence is much-needed after a complete mess on the offensive line in Week 7 agains the Denver Broncos.

New England elevated outside linebacker Tashawn Bower and defensive lineman Nick Thurman to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. Bower will make his Patriots debut, as he replaces Derek Rivers, who will miss the Week 7 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers with a back injury. Thurman has been active the last three games and will serve as depth along the defensive line.

Rookie linebacker Josh Uche returned to practice this week, but remains on the injured reserve list for at least another game.
