Packers WR Jayden Reed removed from injury report, will play vs. Lions

Green Bay Packers rookie receiver Jayden Reed did not receive a playing status designation and was removed from the Week 12 final injury report ahead of Thursday’s showdown with the Detroit Lions.

In other words, Reed will play on Thanksgiving Day at Ford Field.

Reed, the team’s leading receiver, was added to the injury report on Tuesday with a chest injury he suffered during the Packers’ 23-20 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

While limited for Tuesday’s walk-through, Reed was upgraded to a full participant on Wednesday.

Coach Matt LaFleur said Reed battled through the game Sunday and had no issues Monday but the injury flared up when he arrived at the facility on Tuesday.

Reed produced 92 total yards during the win over the Chargers and has 80 or more total yards in three of the last four games. The second-round pick leads the Packers in receiving yards (463) and catches of 30+ yards (7) and is second on the team in targets (51) and receiving touchdowns (5) and third in receptions (31).

For added depth at receiver, the Packers signed Bo Melton from the practice squad on Wednesday.

Reed’s availability will be even more important to the Packers on Thursday because tight end Luke Musgrave (abdomen) is on injured reserve, receiver Dontayvion Wicks (concussion/knee) is questionable to play and running back Aaron Jones (knee) was ruled out.
