Packers WR Cobb active, LB Jones inactive

Starting linebacker Brad Jones, who was listed as probable this week, is a gameday inactive for the Green Bay Packers.

However, the offense could get an extra jolt with wide receiver Randall Cobb returning to the field for the first time since he suffered a severe leg injury at Baltimore on Oct. 13. Cobb was active Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

Green Bay received its best news of an injury-marred season on Thursday, when coach Mike McCarthy announced quarterback Aaron Rodgers was set to return from an eight-game hiatus against the Bears, who knocked Rodgers out of their Nov. 4 game with a broken collarbone.

Outside linebacker Clay Matthews (thumb) was inactive. He re-injured his hand last week bringing Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to the ground for a sack.
