Packers name Aaron Rodgers, Za’Darius Smith and Mason Crosby as season-long captains

For the second straight season, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, outside linebacker Za’Darius Smith and kicker Mason Crosby will be the three season-long captains for the Green Bay Packers during the 2020 season.

Coach Matt LaFleur confirmed the captains on Wednesday.

Rodgers, Smith and Crosby were also the elected captains for the 2019 season.

Like last year, the Packers are also planning on having three rotating captains join Rodgers, Smith and Crosby every week.

Rodgers has been the Packers’ starting quarterback since 2008. He is the team’s oldest and longest-tenured player on the roster.

Smith, a free-agent addition last year, was named as a captain during his first year in Green Bay. He produced a Pro Bowl season in 2020 and returns as the defensive captain.

Crosby, the team’s kicker since 2007, re-signed with the Packers this offseason, keeping him in Green Bay for the next three years.
