Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton missing Sunday's game for injury management

PHOENIX -- Pacers All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton will miss Sunday's game against the Suns after returning Friday night from a strained left hamstring, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said in his pre-game press conference.

However, point guard Andrew Nembhard will be available after missing the last two games with a thoracic spine sprain.

"Tyrese's thing is injury management," Carlisle said. "There's no re-injury or setback. This is the right thing to do this particular game."

Haliburton was expected to miss the Pacers' entire six-game trip after suffering the hamstring strain in the second quarter of the Pacers' win over the Celtics on Jan. 8. However, he recovered faster than expected and posted 21 points and 17 assists with no turnovers in nearly 35 minutes in a 118-115 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Haliburton leads the Pacers with 23.6 points per game and leads the NBA with 12.6 assists per game.

Nembhard will likely start in Haliburton's place, and the Pacers obviously still have veteran T.J. McConnell, who started on Thursday night in Sacramento and posted 20 points and 10 assists to lead a Pacers win.

Center Isaiah Jackson will also miss his second straight game with a concussion suffered against the Kings.
