OSAA wrestling championships: Dallas boys win 5A state title, local girls dominate

PORTLAND — Dallas boys wrestling took home the 5A team title on Saturday night with 219.5 points, marking the Dragons third state title in program history and first since 2018.

"They came back and wrestled through the back really, really well," Dallas head coach Austin Markee said.

Dallas added to their team victory with an individual state champion.

Third-ranked junior Joseph Johnson won his first state title in the 120-pound bracket, defeating unranked freshman Colton Hankey of Crescent Valley in a fall at 3:14.

"I can't take all the credit for this," Johnson said. "High school has been hard work for me. They've taught me so much and especially my workout partner. Shoutout to all of them. I'm not here without them."

The Dragons had a second-place finish with No. 2 senior Cole Langford and third place finish with No. 1 senior Jose Romero (126).

Silverton's top-ranked Brash Henderson was the lone 5A boys individual state title for the Foxes in the 285-pound bracket, defeating unseeded Isaac Jordan of Lebanon in sudden victory.
