Oregon Ducks to face Oklahoma Sooners in Valero Alamo Bowl

Though it certainly is not the hot topic of discussion for fans of the Ducks, Oregon fans finally know when their next football game will be, and who they will be playing.

It was announced on Sunday that the Ducks will play in the Valero Alamo Bowl against the Oklahoma Sooners on December 29th, which kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET.

Oregon has played Oklahoma a total of 7 times, with the Sooners holding a dominant edge in the matchup, winning 6 of the games. Oregon’s lone win came in 2006 with the thrilling 34-33 victory at Autzen Stadium.

At this point, it is unclear what state the Ducks will be in for this game, with the coaching rumors still swirling around Mario Cristobal and whether or not he will leave for the Miami Hurricanes. The Ducks also lost OC Joe Moorhead on Saturday after he took the head coaching job with the Akron Zips.

This may feel like a disappointment for Oregon fans, after having a chance to play for the College Football Playoff just three weeks ago, and a chance to play for the Rose Bowl just a few days ago. However, a pair of embarrassing losses to the Utah Utes made it so those dreams were shattered, and they were relegated to a mid-level bowl game instead.

Utah will play the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.
