Oologah welcomes new coaches to lead baseball, softball teams

Jul. 21—The Oologah-Talala Public Schools district is buzzing with excitement as two talented and experienced coaches join the ranks of the Mustangs' coaching staff.

Layle DeVilbliss takes the reins as the new baseball coach, while Aaliyah Sebock steps up as the softball coach. Both coaches bring with them an impressive track record and a passion for shaping young athletes on and off the field.

DeVilbliss is no stranger to the world of sports and coaching.

With a strong background at Lincoln Christian School, where he served as the assistant athletic director and varsity baseball coach, DeVilbliss has already proven his leadership abilities. During his time at Lincoln Christian, he also contributed significantly to the school's football program as an assistant varsity coach.

In addition to his roles at Lincoln Christian, DeVilbliss made a positive impact on the students as an elementary and high school P.E. teacher, as well as a driver's education instructor. His dedication to both academics and athletics has earned him respect among his peers and the community.

Following his tenure at Lincoln Christian School, DeVilbliss continued to make a mark in the sports community at Bartlesville Public Schools.

There, he served as an assistant coach for both baseball and softball teams while also taking on the role of a Back on Track teacher, helping students get back on the right path academically.

Then, in 2021, DeVilbliss brought his wealth of knowledge and experience to Oologah-Talala Public Schools as an assistant coach for both the football and baseball teams. His recent promotion is expected to elevate the Mustangs' baseball program to new heights.

On the other side of the diamond, Sebock takes charge as the softball coach for the Lady Mustangs, and her impressive resume speaks for itself.

Sebock's coaching journey began in 2016 at Highland East Junior High in Moore, where she served as the basketball coach. Her prowess on the basketball court extended to Jarman Middle School in Midwest City, where she led the eighth-grade girls basketball team and assisted with track.

However, it is in softball that Sebock has truly made a name for herself.

She quickly rose through the coaching ranks at Broken Arrow, holding positions from junior high fast-pitch softball coach to varsity fast-pitch assistant. Her remarkable coaching abilities were further recognized when she was named the Region 7 Assistant Coach of the Year in the 2021-2022 season.

Sebock's success culminated in a remarkable feat when she guided the Broken Arrow softball team to a Class 6A fast-pitch state runner-up finish in 2022, showcasing her ability to bring out the best in her players and foster a competitive spirit within the team.

Apart from her coaching accomplishments, Sebock boasts an impressive playing career, having excelled in softball at various levels, including Carl Albert High School, Southern Nazarene University, Northern Oklahoma College and Rogers State University.

With her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Oklahoma, alongside an Associates of Science degree from Northern Oklahoma College, Sebock brings a strong educational background that complements her coaching prowess.

As Oologah gears up for the upcoming baseball and softball seasons, the entire community eagerly anticipates the fresh perspective and leadership that DeVilbliss and Sebock will bring to the teams.

Their dedication to the development of young athletes and their impressive track records have raised the expectations for both programs, and supporters believe that the Mustangs' baseball and softball teams are in capable hands.

As the sun sets on one chapter and rises on another, the future of Oologah baseball and softball looks bright under the guidance of these two capable coaches.
