Omro boys basketball continues their dominance of the Flyway with blowout win over Lomira

Here is a look at Friday's high school sports action in the area.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Omro 71, Lomira 54

LOMIRA - The first-place Foxes (14-3, 10-0) blew out the Lions (11-7, 7-3) in a battle amongst two of the top three teams in the Flyway.

Mason Huth led Omro with 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Mason Gruss followed with 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and three steals for the Foxes and the duo of Keenan Rahn and Ryan Schoeni each had 12 points.

Rahn also grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double and collected four steals while Schoeni added three steals, as well. Huth, Rahn and Schoeni each sank a pair of threes to complement Gruss's shooting from behind the arc.

Jake Broeske scored a game-high 24 points, including four 3-pointers and 20 in the second half to lead Lomira.

Connor Steers added 11 points for the Lions, all in the first half.

Neenah 78, No. 8 (D-1) Oshkosh North 68

NEENAH - The Spartans (14-5, 11-1) fell to the hot Rockets (13-7, 9-5), who have now won four-in-a-row, in a Fox Valley Association matchup.

Stevie Clark led Oshkosh North with 19 points and a pair of blocks. Bryce Ott and Zay Mitchell each chipped in with 15 points apiece. Ott also had eight rebounds and five assists with a pair of steals and a block while Mitchell had six boards and three assists with a block.

Brady Corso scored a game-high 29 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead Neenah. Charlie Wunderlich also made three 3's, following with 17 points, and Justin Janssen had 13 for the Rockets.

Fond du Lac 66, Oshkosh West 46

OSHKOSH - The Wildcats (6-13, 3-10 Fox Valley Association) found themselves in a 16-point hole to the Cardinals (10-7, 8-4) at the half, which grew to as many as 25 points after the break before West went on a run to trim the deficit to just 14.

Fondy held on though, inflating their advantage back to an even 20 for a blowout win.

Joey Ware led the Wildcats with 14 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Eli Braatz scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Cardinals. Marvin Haslett III and Rocky Barfknecht each chipped in with 12 points for Fondy.

Haslett III buried a game-high three 3-pointers and Barfknecht had a team-high four assists.

Winneconne 70, Ripon 53

WINNECONNE - The Wolves (3-13, 2-7) served the Tigers (6-13, 1-8) their sixth consecutive conference loss in a battle of the bottom two teams in the East Central.

Ayden Loukidis and Cohen Reetz each scored 15 points to lead Winneconne. Parker Ingles followed with 13 points for the Wolves.

Mason Killam went 4-for-7 on threes, finishing with a game-high 23 points to lead Ripon.

Ripon 27 26 - 53

Winneconne 33 37 - 70

Hustisford 62, Valley Christian 37

OSHKOSH - The Warriors (2-15, 0-9 Trailways-East) continue to search for their first conference win of the season, falling to the Falcons (8-6, 4-5) in a blowout.

Joshua Johnson scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds with two steals and a block to lead Valley Christian.

Cade Krause added nine points with five boards and two assists and Isaiah Hyvonen chipped in eight points and four rebounds.

Caleb Peplinski led Hustisford with a game-high 22 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double while also collecting seven assists and six blocks for an impressive all-around game.

Andrew Maas followed with a massive double-double of his own for the Falcons, scoring 17 points and grabbing as many rebounds.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Oshkosh West 62, Fond du Lac 53

FOND DU LAC - The Wildcats (12-8, 8-6) outshot the Cardinals (5-15, 2-12) on the perimeter in a double-digit victory over their conference rivals.

Paige Seckar scored a game-high 25 points, including 10-of-13 from the charity stripe and 3-for-5 from three-point land, with eight rebounds to lead West.

Laina Hammen followed with 16 points, on 3-for-6 shooting from behind the arc, four rebounds and two steals.

Brooke Butler led Fondy with 23 points, including 10-of-11 at the free throw line, and grabbed five rebounds.

Lilly Kejo added 11 points, with a team-high seven boards, and dished out three assists for the Cardinals and Amaria Kejo had nine points, six rebounds.

Valley Christian 59, Marion 13

OSHKOSH - The Warriors (14-5, 8-3 Trailways-East) cruised to victory with a blowout non-conference win over the Mustangs (3-15, 2-5 Central Wisconsin-North).

Anna Y. Giannopoulos scored 15 points and grabbed three rebounds and three steals to lead Valley Christian.

Paige Boevers and Anna E. Giannopoulos each added 11 points and Mackenzie Grammer rounded out the scoring leaders for the Warriors with 10. Boevers and Anna E. Giannopoulos also contributed a team-high four steals and five assists, respectively.

BOYS HOCKEY

Fox Cities 5, Oshkosh 4 (2 OT)

FOND DU LAC - The Ice Hawks (8-14, 2-6 Badgerland) battled back from down two goals entering the third period to tie the game at 4 apiece but couldn't quite get the win, falling to the Stars (8-13, 2-6) in double-overtime.

Dayton Briski opened the scoring for Oshkosh on an assist from Zander Crook to get the Ice Hawks going early, but Fox Cities responded with back-to-back goals to end the first period.

The first Stars goal was scored by Sam Robb, assisted on by Braylon Jansen, and the other goal came from Ryan Ostermann on assists from Cale Adamovich and Mason Weyers.

Briski got things started first for Oshkosh, again, in the second period with an unassisted goal to even things at 2. The tie was only held briefly, however, until Fox Cities once again scored back-to-back goals to close out the period.

Robb earned his second goal of the game on assists from Cam Collins and Logan Clavijo and then Spencer Winnekens cashed in a pass from Will Cote.

The Ice Hawks entered the third, down 4-2, when Evan Neitzel came to the rescue, scoring twice on two assists from Leo Ulrich and one from Alex Beck to give Oshkosh new life by sending the game to overtime.

After a scoreless first OT, Cote cashed in on a power play, with assists from Ostermann and Adamovich, six and a half minutes into the second extra period to seal the Stars' victory.

Gage Bauer made 32 saves for the Ice Hawks and Elliot Reichenbacher had 31 saves for Fox Cities.

WRESTLING

East Central Conference Tournament

Winneconne, Berlin and Ripon took second, sixth, and seventh place, respectively, out of seven teams. Here are the results for each team:

Winneconne - 224 points
