Salem Regional Medical Center Foundation has announced Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller, an ovarian cancer survivor, will be the speaker for its 2024 Gala on Nov. 8 at Waypoint 4180 in Canfield.

Miller is among the most decorated gymnasts in American history. In 1996, she led the “Magnificent Seven” to the first US Women’s team gold and also won the United States’ first gold on the balance beam. Additionally, she is the only female athlete to be inducted into the US Olympic Hall of Fame – twice.

In January 2011, Shannon was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer. She had a baseball-size tumor removed successfully. She is currently cancer-free and continues to be a strong advocate for early detection, awareness, research and survivorship.

Gala sponsorship opportunities are available now. For sponsorship inquires, contact Amy Reed of the SRMC Foundation at 330-337-2883 or foundation@salemregional.com. Ticket sales will begin Aug. 1.
