Ole Miss baseball signee Josh Knoth selected by Milwaukee Brewers in 2023 MLB Draft

OXFORD — Ole Miss baseball signee Josh Knoth was selected 33rd overall in the first competitive balance round of the 2023 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers.

Knoth, a righthanded pitcher, went over 60 spots ahead of his projection according to MLB.com, which had him slotted at No. 98 in its ranking of draft prospects heading into Sunday.

Where previously the Rebels could probably hold out hope of getting Knoth to campus, that looks like a much more difficult task now.

Knoth's slot value sits at $2,543,800. Even if the Brewers look to sign him for under his slot value, he'd almost certainly be turning down a seven-figure to play in Oxford.

The hard-throwing righty with a plus slider hails from Medford, New York, and was ranked by Perfect Game as the No. 26 overall player in his class.

He's the second player with an Ole Miss connection to be selected, following junior Rebels shortstop Jacob Gonzalez, who went 15th overall to the White Sox.
