Old Rochester girls, boys and Apponequet girls advance to cross country All-States

Here's a look at the top high school performers, scores and highlights from Nov. 6 to Nov. 11.

Saturday, Nov. 11

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Div. 2C Championship Meet: Old Rochester came in sixth as a team to advance to All-States behind the running of Tyler Young (fifth; 16:11.6) and Aidan Silk (11th; 16:58.0) as well as Nolan Bushnell, John Bowman and Noah Robert-Howley. Bishop Stang’s Lowell Coops came in seventh place with a time of 16:18. Jack Lucy was 22nd (17:30). Both runners advance to All-States. Brennen Vane (18:15) and Conor Levesque (18:28) also contributed. Apponequet’s Nathan Levesque (18:06.8), Luca Rubini (18:17.5), Nathan Furtado (18:26.5) and Ryan Levesque (18:42.7) helped the Lakers place 11th as a team.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Div. 2C Championship Meet: Old Rochester came in fourth place to qualify for All-States behind the running of Emily Abbott (personal-best 20:56.3 for 24th place), Hanna Walley (32st: 21:10.5) and Aubrey Heis (3nd; 21:11.1) as well as Alexia Gonsalves and Maddie Conner. Apponequet’s Hailey Desmarais came in third (18:58) while Hannah Kuriscak was 29th (21:01.1) and Isabella Sergio placed 35th (21:32.2) to help the Lakers finish fifth overall and advance to All-States. Keltey Fournier (21:59.1), Nora McClurkin (23:07.2), Marissa Desmarais (24:00.9) and Madeline Polochick (24:13.4) also contributed. Bishop Stang’s Helena Morrison ran a 23:14.

Thursday, Nov. 9

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Weston 3, Old Rochester 0: No. 6 Old Rochester saw its season come to an end against third-seeded Weston 3-0 in the Div. 3 Elite 8 to finish with a record of 17-5.

Tuesday, Nov. 7

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Oliver Ames 3, Dartmouth 2: No. 9 Dartmouth (17-5) came up just short to eighth-seeded Oliver Ames, falling 26-24, 20-25, 25-21, 22-25, 13-15 in the Div. 2 Sweet 16. Brooke Davis was 15 for 17 on serve receive and had 10 kills and 17 digs. Gaby Velazquez was 34 for 36 on serve receive with 15 digs. Haley Jenkins had 15 kills and three aces. Adeline Ablett had 10 kills. Olivia Arruda was 21 for 24 on serve receive with nine digs. Alaina Strozik had 39 assists and 11 digs. Chloe McKinnon added six kills. Maddie Goldizen chipped in 15 digs and four kills. “Everyone left everything on the court,” said Dartmouth head coach Rachel Lassey, noting that the team will graduate eight seniors: Davis, Velazquez, Strozik, Jenkins, Ablett, Goldizen, Arruda and Victoria Carvalho.

Holliston 3, GNB Voc-Tech 0: The No. 12 Bears lost in the Div. 3 Sweet 16 to fifth-seeded Holliston to finish the year with an overall record of 19-6.

Monday, Nov. 6

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Old Rochester 3, Dennis-Yarmouth 2: With their 10th straight win, the No. 6 Bulldogs (17-4) punched their ticket to a third-straight Div. 3 Elite 8. Aubrie Letourneau had 23 service points, four aces, five kills, 48 assists and 15 digs in the 19-25, 25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 15-12 victory. Kam Rodrigues led the way with 15 kills while Ava Vander Pol had 14. Caroline Brogioli chipped in with 30 digs.

BOYS SOCCER

Westborough 3, Dartmouth 0: No. 15 Dartmouth outshot No. 18 Westborough 10-1 in the first half, but couldn’t capitalize in the Div. 2 Round of 32. Carter Bates had five saves for Dartmouth, which finished the year 8-7-2.
