The Oklahoman’s 2023 Class C high school football preseason rankings

Here are the Oklahoma high school football teams in Class C, ranked first through 32nd.

Last season’s records are listed in parentheses.

1. Tipton (14-0): The Tigers lost a lot of talent, but they still have a solid group capable of claiming a second straight title.

2. Waynoka (13-1): The Railroaders fell in the title game last season in their lone loss, but players like fullback and linebacker Landon Seiger help keep them a championship contender.

3. Timberlake (11-2): The Tigers made it to the semifinals last season and have some reliable players back, including receiver Mavric Judd.

4. Bartlesville Wesleyan Christian (10-2): Quarterback Tyrel Cloud will lead the offense as Bartlesville Wesleyan Christian looks to make a title run.

5. Mountain View-Gotebo (8-4): A semifinalist last season, Mountain View-Gotebo will try to get over the hump and claim the title.

6. Thackerville (7-5): The Wildcats are favored to claim the District C-4 title in The Oklahoman's preseason coaches' poll.

7. Graham-Dustin (7-4): A playoff team last season, Graham-Dustin could be a sleeper.

8. Wilson-Henryetta (8-2): The Tigers should have one of the top teams in District C-3 and could make a deep run.

9. Maud (11-1): The Tigers' only blemish last season was a 64-24 loss to Timberlake in the quarterfinals.

10. Maysville (8-4): Maysville's lone championship in any sport came when the football team claimed the title in 1953.

11. Coyle (6-5): Quarterback Alex Jennings and running back and defensive end Xavier Amaro are among Coyle's leaders, and the Bluejackets will rely on their strong rushing attack and defense.

12. Medford (5-6): Medford is in a tough district as it has to compete with Waynoka and Timberlake in C-1, but the Cardinals will try to hold their own.

13. Ryan (7-4): Ryan made it to the playoffs last season, but it was short-lived. The Cowboys lost to Waynoka 46-0 in the first round.

14. Buffalo (6-5): Buffalo will look to remain a playoff team after a fairly successful 2022 season.

15. Geary (5-6): Following an up-and-down 2022 season, coach Johnny Ray and the Bison will try to turn things around.

16. Oaks Mission (6-5): Oaks Mission had some strong defensive performances last season, including two shutouts.
