Oklahoma high school baseball: Marlow, Blanchard advance to Class 4A state title game

NOBLE — The Class 4A high school baseball state semifinals were held Friday at Noble.

Marlow 1, Tuttle 0

A walk-off single from senior Mason Holding helped Marlow defeat defending Class 4A champion Tuttle 1-0 in the Class 4A state semifinals.

The Outlaws (28-7) continued their impressive form, securing their 11th win in the last 12 games. They now look forward to a challenging match against Blanchard on Saturday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Both teams were strong on the mound as Marlow’s Hudson Morgan earned the win, allowing just two hits over seven innings. The sophomore pitched a complete game, striking out six batters on 108 pitches.

Despite the loss, Tuttle senior pitcher Grayson Barnes also allowed only two hits on the day.

Marlow has yet to win a state championship but has a chance to make program history on Saturday.

Blanchard 7, Chickasha 1

For the third consecutive season, Blanchard will play for the chance to win a Class 4A state championship.

The Lions defeated Chickasha 7-1 in the semifinals on Friday behind an electric performance from junior pitcher Jaxson Heard. The right-hander pitched a complete game, striking out 12 batters while only allowing three hits.

Blanchard (29-7) recently won a state championship in 2022, its fifth title in program history.

The top of the sixth inning proved crucial for the Lions, as they scored four runs to balloon their lead to seven. Brayson Carter and Aiden Kilgore led Blanchard at the plate with five hits, resulting in five runs.

Chickasha senior pitcher Kyler Venable provided the Fightin’ Chicks with their only run of the game as his RBI single brought Layton Bryan to score.
