OKC Thunder plans to sign Mike Muscala to fill final roster spot, per report

The OKC Thunder plans to sign Mike Muscala, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Friday.

This marks the second stint in OKC for Muscala, 32, who played for the team from 2019-23. The 7-foot-1 center got bought out of his contract with the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.

Muscala began this season in Washington, where he averaged four points and 3.1 rebounds in 24 games. He then got traded in January to Detroit, where he averaged 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in 13 games.

OKC freed up a roster spot on Feb. 23 by waiving fourth-year forward Aleksej Pokusevski. Its roster is now complete with the addition of Muscala, who should provide some veteran depth in the frontcourt.

Muscala has shot 37.6% from deep throughout his 11-year career. He'll compete for backup center minutes with Jaylin Williams and Bismack Biyombo, who OKC signed on Feb. 10.
